Mbappé has good stats and has been decisive those season.
However, his whole around game has not been good enough. I expect better from him.
He has not been able to step up and have great impact when Neymar is not up to the fight, especially in CL.

See, I respect these kinds of posts. We have can have healthy banter this way. If I misinterpreted your post I apologize.

But, this is what I will say. I am not always innocent, but from my perspective, I'm not the one instigating the drama. I hardly comment in Barca threads. I don't insult your board or your players. I feel Messi is the GOAT of his generation and one of the greatest players of all time, etc. Even when PSG lost out to Barca with FDJ I congratulated you all and left it there.

On the other hand, I don't believe Ligue 1 sucks or is a farmers league, and I don't believe it's far below Serie A or the Bundesliga. I don't think Neymar is irrelevant, or that he's ruined his career, or that he's a cry baby. I don't believe PSG has ruined football or inflated the transfer market, and I feel the animosity people feel towards Qatar is hypocritical. I truly believe these things and I defend them, and in doing so I draw a lot of hate from Barca supporters. I don't believe that makes me a troll, nor does it reflect me intentionally creating drama.

As I told Joan earlier, I don't want to have these conversations everyday either, but PSG is hated here.

its all good man

Ligue 1 isn't as bad as its made out and i'd actually rather watch it over Bundesliga/Serie A. France is like a football scouts dream with all the talents scattered around. maybe if those talents gravitate towards say Lyon/Marsielle a sleeping giant could be awoken and challenge PSG. I used to follow french football back when Lyon were a force (Juninho, Cris etc), also visited Parc des Prince

Neymar is a tough one, although hes the most marketable footballer, hes also one of the most hated. in the UK for example everyone hates him and i had this problem with people when he was at Barca*. they tune in to a Brazil game, see him diving/play acting and then brand his entire season around that, ignorant to even watch a Barca match. he was pretty embarrassing at the world cup though, i really thought he'd mature and bring it home for Brazil.

at first I admit i thought Neymar left soley for the $$$ and part of me does still think 50% of his decision was money (or likely papa Neymar) but when you see what Barca are paying in wages it can't be all about money. i always knew Neymar wouldn't retire a Barca legend, i was always expecting him to do a Figo on us and i still won't be suprised if he does pop up at Madrid some day

I also agree it would be hypocritical to blame all the market on PSG, afterall Madrid were the first ones to coin the Galactico bs, breaking the world transfer record for fun. Barca didn't help either and nobody really knows how much we paid for Neymar originally.. we also had a deal with Qatar Airways which didn't go down well with fans so maybe thats a part of the hostility towards them

*i still to this day have retarded PL friends telling me Busquets is a diving piece of shit for that one peekaboo incident vs Inter

anyways i really cant be bothered anymore to argue over league x vs league z, let them meet full strength in the CL and we'll see

No one in France values Griezmann as much as Mbappé. Pretty sure the former only had one goal in open play during the WC. Most of his goals came from PK's.

LOL
Remove Griezmanns goals and assists in the WC, and France will have only one goal in the knock out rounds. The only thing Mbappe has over Griezmann is hype. If Griezmann had the hype Mbappe had, he would have easily won the BDoR.

You know it doesn't work like that.

About Mbappé hype, it is true that he is overrated since he is compared to majorly superior players like CR7, Messi, Neymar.
Griezman is also a very good player but their game is so different, i can't really compare them. Griezman responsability in France national team is to set the tempo. Mbappé role was to attack the space, to go fast on the break, to take on defenders.
In the future, i can see Mbappé playing as a 9.

If he doesn't sign an extension his contract expires on 30.06.2022 would be a hell of a battle for signing him as a free agent would be right about the time we'd be looking to replace Messi.

He is nothing like Messi though.

He would be more like when you had Henry at Barcelona or could replace Suarez but without the heading skill. He is the worst player at heading the ball.

We're never going to get a direct replacement for Messi he would help replace a lot of goals at least and is a RW.

You’re having a laugh.

No.

I know he is still a young player but i have set huge expectations on him.

When Neymar is not there, he should step up and carry us against this lesser opposition.

So far, he has not been able to do that, hence not justifying paying a record fee on him.

I like the Guy and i wish he will do that in the near future.

Before today he was the joint leading scorer in Europe with 17 goals, in 600 less minutes than the player he was tied with.

There is more to the game than numbers.

I watch every PSG game and he is not stepping up as a leader when Neymar is not here.

Today again, he didn't look like a 135/145 M€ player. He has to do way better in the build up, when on 1v1 on the break, when he has to finish.

I know i set the bar high but if Neymar is 220 i expect the second most expensive player to do better.

Here, he has just scored and his overall game will be skipped and only the goal remembered.

A goal and an assist without Neymar, putting him back up with Messi as Europe’s leafing goal scorer... As I said, you’re having a laugh. That or you need to temper your expectations.

As i told you, there is more than numbers to a game.
I previously describe Mbappé as a player with good decisive stats (goals + assists).
However, he is not the attacking leader when Neymar is not there.
Today, di Maria played as the leader. I want Mbappé to be more influencial, to make more differences.

For me, he did a typical Cavani game and we paid Cavani 63 M not 180 bonus included.
