He must be one of the most underrated players ever. He is crucial because of his defensive work and positioning, not because of his chance convertion.
He is the provider for Salah and Mane to convert.

It's really bizarre how Liverpool, a team with 3 years of success in the last 30 years, can seemingly do no wrong in decision making or personnel.

Yet, the most successful team of the last 30 years (domestic + Europe) has little recourse or redemptive qualities.

Either it was the last season, or the season before that, that showed him to be among the players in PL with most shots taken, and yet he barely even got double digit goals.

Paints a different picture than the guy who just create space for Salah and Mane, he is just not a very good goalscorer.

Harsh, I think he's good, but not great. Liverpool's Griezmann sort of. Works hard, moves a lot, very good tactically, but the end product is inconsistent.

Busquets is regarded as the best defensive midfielder of that era and will always be remembered as a crucial part of a historic trio. No discussion about the best DMs in football goes without Sergio's name being brought up these days. Recency bias or not, it's debatable.

On the other hand, what's not debatable, is that you're grossly overrating Klopp's Liverpool, their successes, and importance. Firmino was, in my opinion, a very good player and received lots of praise at the time. Everything else is a stretch.

Firmino is a good system player, he helps the others but he is also a product of the system.
That is the difference between a player like him and Benzema for example, whom you always know he can produce at decent rate even if CR7 isn't there. Same with Suarez, both can lead a frontline.

He is overrated if you think he is a world class, underrated if you think he is a garbage.

Depends, false 9 (or more accurately a 9 who can open space for teammates) is a good commodity if you have wingers/SS who score in bunches like Messi/CR7/Salah and to lesser extent Robben/Ribbery etc. Football has moved on from no0 being the main goal scorer for sometime now.
Although, with the likes of Halaand and maybe Mpabbe, it seems it is coming back.

At the end of the day, you need someone to provide for bag of goals, and team needs to serve those.
