They know Madrid is desperate. They'll pay around 180m to 200m euros for him. A lot can change from now to January, so Mbappe might stay if he sees that the club is doing really well and they're making progress.

Mbapp? will never stay for the simple reason that once he extend he knows PSG would never sell him, he's not that idiot  dude wants just to build his legacy as new face of Real Madrid, doesn't matter how good will do PSG this season or how many money they would give to him.

psg might go ape shit and splurge on haaland now. or cheeky bid for lewandowski?

ronaldo is just a stop gap and not the type of CF they need.

Cristiano is not what PSG needs if Mbappe departs, but having Messi, Ronaldo and Neymar as ambassadors for the 2022 WC has to be a tasty prospect for Qatar.

They're not going to pay 150m to 200m for Haaland this summer. They won't pay 120m to 130m on a 33-year-old Lewandowski. Besides, they're apparently they're trying to balance the books.... and Ronaldo would be a great option for just 25m. He'll score a shit ton of goals with Messi and Neymar setting him up. Also, they can try to Haaland next season, so they'll have more money to spend next summer.

Ronaldo is the better option. He's way more cheaper, he'll sell a crap ton of shirts, they can market Messi and Ronaldo being in the same team. Yeah, Ronaldo will be on about 500k a week, but they can just use Mbappe's wages towards Ronaldo's.

And that's why I feel why they'll go all out for Ronaldo. Imagine the marketing that can be done with Messi and Ronaldo playing on the same side. Not to mention, he's a cheaper option... and he'll still score them a crap ton of goals even at 36.

To get money next year? The real question is why would Mbappe settle for that?

Situation wouldn't likely be any different than this year really would it?
It's still the same case of fighting against player's desires (to be his own man, to try different league, to play for a team he liked for a long time).
If they want to cash in, now's the time. Rather than trying to buy more of it.

Besides any self-respecting club that isn't desperate doesn't offer short contracts for players like him. They want a degree of commitment to a project. RN they don't even have a manager sorted beyond 2022. It's all a big unknown and a gamble of a different degree to sign any more deals.

Why would PSG offer that?

Because they have Messi now and with the front 3 , they have serious chances of getting at least 1 CL in the next 2 years.

It's better to have him for the next 2 years , trophy wise, instead of losing him for free next summer, or selling him now. At this point I don't really think they care about money at all , they just want the CL and Mbapee has to stay for that.

I still don't understand why would Mbapee want to leave now/next summer since he has a seriously ridiculous team now.

It actually does. He may be free next season, but a lot can change Mbappe's mind by then. Look at what happened with Neymar, look what's happened with Kane recently; players change their minds all the time. Real Madrid want to send out a statement and get him while he still wants to join Real Madrid 100%. Yeah, it's going to cost them an awful lot, but they can earn a lot back from him.

PSG might take the 180m and get Ronaldo in for much cheaper. They can also clear some of the books with the other money. They have to pay Monaco 35m euros from the sale, but they'll have 145m euros to clear the books and make another signing even if they sign Ronaldo.

The difference between Mbappe and Neymar/Kane is that he is a free agent next year and there is nothing PSG can do to block him from going there next summer. PSG can ask for a ridiculous fee this year, but they can't do anything next year. And they know it. Mbappe has blocked all their attempts to extend his contract. It hurts their ego big time.

PSG and Qataris don't care about clearing the books. They want to win the CL more than anything and they know that their chances with Mbappe are much bigger of doing so than they are with CR. It is now or never for them.

IIRC Leonardo said the same thing about Neymar when he wanted to back to Barca. They couldn't do a high enough offer and he ended up staying. There's nothing done, it'll depend on how much money Real can put on the table. I highly doubt Madrid will offer what PSG are demanding.

He has an Amigo Galactico frontline to play with. It is what it is - if you're him, you don't gamble signing more deals with club based on this until you see it play out. For all it's worth, it could also be the effect opposite of desired and they can have locker room tensions stemming from attempts to make the front trio work long term which could span months and not even succeed. No way should he pen anything 'just because' when he's been more or less wanting to get out for 3 years now.

ronaldo is not your classic CF. when he's not standing in the box to feed off crosses or mistakes, he makes runs from deep/outside the area.

doesn't combine that well or works for others by occupying and battling opposition defenders.

neymar and messi already have kind of free roles and come running with ball on feet from deep. why would you want ronaldo to just stand in the box?

suarez in his prime years with MSN was perfect because he enjoyed doing the dirty work and opening up space for messi and neymar.

Regardless of how rich of a team you are, you would be stupid to turn down 180m euros for a guy that only has 1 year left on his contract. Also, Mbappe's mind might not be right this season if he doesn't get his way. You can also use those 180m euros to improve the team. You can get Ronaldo for 2 years for just 25m. He may not be the same player he was, but with Messi and Mbappe setting you up, he's going to score a crap ton of goals. They have to pay 35m euros to Monaco, so they'll still have 120m euros to play with if they sign Ronaldo. That 120m euros can go towards another midfielder.

Mbappe has reached the point in his career where it was time to progress. PSG is the perfect environment for young superstars or seasoned stars whose best days are behind them.

Even with Mbappe, that PSG team is banking on instant success and needs refreshing in about 2 years max.
