Lionel Messi - v7

No one offered to buy him.
Only City had some shy attempts to sign him for free.

Maybe he is a hostage whom no one wants to buy aged 33+transfer fee+50m wages+getting a player who is ruining tactically your team+a player who is ruining your pressing game

The top 2 teams in the world (Pool, Bayern) wouldn?t buy him.

The oil teams would, because they have no history.

Then there?s clown teams like Juve and United who would.

PSG would not buy him. Why would they, just made the CL final and have 2 of the best players in the world. At this point PSG are in a sweet spot with one huge downside, the league they play in. City would buy him in certain conditions. Everyone else would probably not buy him. It's City or nothing imo. Juve with a slim chance. United, don't think so.

The oil teams are looking for history/stature as much as success.

If it was about success only, PSG would have reinforced the middle and defense instead of stacking Ney, mbappe, di Maria, icardi, cavani, draxler at one point.

Yes, but PSG could upset Mbappe if they sign Messi. At this point in time, they would be far better off to just make Mbappe their star in terms of everything (salary, media exposure, position in the team etc.) in order to extend him. Signing Messi would be a hit on Mbappe's position in the club imo.

City don't have any stars with a big ego. So nobody would really be put off by Messi joining and instantly becoming the main star.

I think as someone said, his humongous luxurious house in Manchester will certainly not be a shit hole. They'll be fine in terms of quality of living.

Everything was set for a challenge that would sway the goat status more in Messi's favour. If he had played well, scored 20 plus league goals, 10 plus assists and helped city to one of the big two titles that they currently dont have it would have been monumental. Now he has to wait another year which is not good at his age. The season is going to be very long and tiring with the copa America. If he does go next year it's possible city could be league and champions league winners already so there players might be less hungry. I usually like to see city win the league because of Guardiola and his philosophy but maybe this year if Messi's not there maybe a second place and a champions league exit at the semis

Messi scoring 20 and assisting 10 would not have been monumental. That would have been a bit of a let down really.

Plenty players have done that or more in teams in EPL.

City are favourites for league without him and have won it two of last three years.

I said 20 plus which could be 29 and 19 assists. All I meant was getting over 20 league goals so it would be a success. At his age it would be good. The monumental part would have been winning a champions league

That would be even more terrible for his image. His reputation and "legacy" will take another hit. I think he will try to play well though. Don't believe he will give less than this season, as he would come out looking terrible if he pulls that shit.

well, he's not the type to troll and play bad on purpose. Ratman stabbed him in the back. So it all depends on how quickly he can recover.

If his head is not in the game, you'll only get a distracted Leo. Even if top talent, impossible to compete if not in the zone.

Rosy scenario: we get lucky and he enjoys Commando's football, finds fun linking up on the pitch with the fresher, energized team. We get flamin dragons in the sky and fireworks. Awesome!

Could really go either way. Just hopping this backstabbing fiasco doesn't trigger some anxiety disorder or send him into a depressive spiral, affecting everything from his motivation level, to focus and energy. I mean, you guys who ranted about his walking before would go bonkers if we get a depressed Leo showing up in the yard in lock-up mode.

Lol.

Mbapp? would be upset because PSG sign Messi ? I don't think so.

What Mbapp? wants is win titles to stroke his ego. CL is the only one left with PSG. And signing Messi could give him the impression he could get closer to achieve it.

Also, PSG doesn't need to do anything to make Mbapp? "their star in terms of everything". He isn't thinking about renewing. Would be very stupid from PSG not to sign a player to appease another one who could leave in one year time.

At the moment, Neymar is the star of PSG and everyone knows it. If Mbapp? wants to have any say in a Messi purchase, he should start scoring some goals in CL knock out for us. He has only scored 1 goal in 3 years. Against MU.

PSG owners would be very happy to sign Messi just for the fame and to get one over Manchester City owners. That being said, PSG is already bleeding with Mbapp? and Neymar wages. Manchester is his best and only realistic choice. They offer PL + Pep + golden retirement in NY.

.

Wow, that really puts it in perspective how tough it is to be decisive on a constant basis in CL.

Honestly, Mbappe has benefited from coming into the WC 2018 as a player who people didn't mark or double mark. He had an amazing game v Argentina (who were a shell of themselves defensively) and scored in the final where France were easily the better team. Aside from that, he hasn't quite lived up when most of the attention is on him.
