Lionel Messi - v7

You're delusional if you believe thats what the board is doing.

If that was the case Griezmann would still be playing in Madrid for example and Neymar in Barcelona.

Messi, Suarez etc were reported to want Griezmann and he was signed before Neymar wanted to leave PSG.

The club went after Neymar big time last summer and kept EV due to Messi and amigos influence.

The club indulge them far too much.

They have also been reported to not like him and avoid passing to him.
Many reports go around that are bs.
The board does try to indulge them too much, that is true. Whose fault is that?

Thank you for proving his point again. Everyone that doesn't cut it anymore should leave or be eliminated from the rebuilding process.

And people wonder why some people are fans of players, not teams...
I'll never be a fan of a club that threats people who have contributed so much as disposable objects.

Messi fits that 100% because of the reasons which are known to all but his most ardent fans.

I'll list them again: doesn't run, doesn't defend, doesn't listen to instructions, needs the whole team to play for him, takes away too much money, protects the veterans and the status quo.

He's been carrying barca for years now, probably earns the club far more then he costs them.

Make no mistake FC Barcelona will not only loose massive revenue (TV, sponsorship, matchday revenue) but will also loose its status as one of Europe's biggest if he leaves.

WTF didnt know he earns 50mio a year. What is he doing with so much money ?!

The club don't pay Messi insane amounts for nothing. He has a big hand in the amount of money Barca generate. He's a commercial dream, like CR7. Bartomeu and co have used his status to increase revenue.

Barca would take a financial hit when Messi leaves and the club he goes to, would get more media exposure straight away. Similar to CR7 and juve.

How come he doesn't cut it? He is our best performer and it's nit even close. You are blind or just shit talking?

Doesn't run - never was a runner. What amount should he run for you to be comfortable?
Doesn't defend - i'll take goals and assists, thank you. Sure, age caught up with him and he is not pressing like 10 years ago.
Whole team plays for him - what is that supposed ti mean? As in they give him the ball because the other attackers are shit and we don't have attacking midfielders?
Takes away to much money - based on what he does and what he brings as image for the club he is payd fairly.
Protects thr veterans - this is just speculation from the likes of you. He would be more than happy to have good team mates around him. But we brought useless frenchies and a pussy brazilian

I dont believe they dont pass to him and even well it can fit with being pissed off he is there in place of Neymar.

The board indulging the amigos on these decisions is fault of both and all needs to be weeded out.

If we keep him it will be a nightmare for any manager to find the right position for him.
Personally I always thought that at this stage of his career he should be a penalty box predator similar to Ronaldo.
Him dropping deep does us no favours cause when he loses the ball he doesn't make any attempt to win it back.

CR7 the commercial dream that Juventus are wanting his wages gone supposedly..

Barca would not suffer by 100m hit a season by Messi going not even close.

Where are the goals and assists in the 2-8, or 0-4, or 0-3, or 0-3, or, 0-2, or 0-4 again in CL? If he scores and assists so much, how come we're humiliated so often, and receive buckets of goals? Maybe because him and his amigos can't fucking run!!! And are steamrolled by any serious team showing up with intensity on the night.

He doesn't score or assists vs the big boys anymore.

I'll tell you again. He has as many goals in QF in CL in the last 7 years as Own Goal. 2 goals. 1 was a gift by De Gea . in 7 (!!!) years.

So, make a separation between goals and assists vs Celta Vigo, and Eibar, and Valladoild, most of those at home on Camp Nou even, and other mediocre or low level teams in La Liga. And goals and assists vs the best sides in CL.

Messi, with few exceptions, is a flat track bully now at 33, with huge fundamental problems to his game, that serious teams exploit easily. Probably his only ability that has remained great vs big teams is set pieces. No wonder, they require minimal movement.

He declined. Needs to go and allow us to rebuild.

He obviously isn't as good as he used to be, but is still very good. The problem is, we have a team that can't run which makes the problem of Messi not defending so much worse. He would still be very good in a more athletic team imo.

He wouldn't have to drop into midfield if we had better midfielders, there is no creativity. I don't remember him doing it much when we had xavi and iniesta. Take the game against Bayern for example, if he didn't drop deep and play the pass to Jordi alba for Suarez's goal, who would have?

No, because if you have a player who is not respecting the positioning or doesn't want to defend, it ruins the shape of the whole team. It's like a boat that has 1 big hole instead of 4 holes. It still sinks.

For the pressing to work, and for the pressure to be hard to escape from, you need EVERYBODY pulling their weight of the ball.

Even in more atheltic team there is the issue of where to play Messi to get best out of him and team.

Cant play him RW as skews whole balance.

Can only really see him at AM with a CF forward who pivot with him and do the pressing/defending.

The way Argentina set up with narrow front three works well but top CL teams and full backs they have will kill that out wide.

Messi still the best on ball for most part but fitting him into a team without compensating too many other positions is becoming increasingly harder.

The team vs Bayern exposes Messi and teams weaknesses to a ridiculous level but all those weaknesses need to be adrressed for the good of the team.
