Kroos is a better player than rakitic individually, but rakitic was perfect for what the team needed at the time and bought balance to right side along with Messi and Dani. Basically doing a water carrier role, something kroos wouldn't be able to do.
Kroos is by far the better player and what a Barca midfielder should be.
Rakitic has never been a top midfielder and given far too much credit for plugging gaps for Alves/Messi in a role many average players could have done.
A big reason he ended up in that role is that Alves was technically better than him and they wanted him in middle of park.
I doubt we would have won the treble with Kroos over Rakitic. I don't like a midfield trio of Kroos-Busquets-Iniesta at all. Two attacking midfielders.
Rakitic was a better fit at the time.
I hated his endorsement of Valverde, but CR endorsed Ancelotti and Florentino still binned him.
The fact that we're blaming Messi for our President being a gutless, spineless and clueless piece of shit is incredible.
Kroos was about as close to Xavi as could have got and Xavi with those two at peak were best midfield going.
Part of reason Barca had to change midfield in that treble was because Rakitic was average technically in tight areas and they wanted Alves to come into midfield to compensate.
There is no comaprison who would have been better player for Barcas future.
Kroos is not near xavi's level. The bigger mistake was getting fabregas instead of modric.
This is what you get from these social media Barca fans. They're mostly glory hunters, they only care what other fanbase will say to them and the team they support. So suddenly all of them are shit because they lost 8-2? Talk about glory hunter fans that will bail out once the team doesn't provide bragging rights on the Internet or in pubs.
Boy you are a lost cause. Go do the research, see what the pundits tell you.
Kroos is nearer to Xavis level than average players like Rakitic and was the closest thing Barca could have got to him back then.
He was dominating the ball for Peps Bayern.
Modric would not have played much ahead of Barcas set in stone three at that time and Pep wanted Cesc as he had this idea of switching to 343.
In terms of what was needed and the bigger error was not getting Kroos and in turn allowing Real to.
That's the thing, in 2015 Lucho wasn't trying to play like pep. He saw the club from the outside and probably decided it needs to change, so he made the team more direct.
Messis' longetivity is surely very impressive, that's something that no one can deny. I never said Maradona and Pele are without a doubt above him, but the arguments to put them above him are credible. Both of them had ample NT success whereas Messi's NT campaigns have been full of tragedies. You could also argue the players at the club level that Messi was surrounded with were much better than the club teammates Maradona had. Xavi and Iniesta are widely considered the greatest midfield duo in history.
I'm not entirely sure how what I said was insulting towards Messi, but Messi is not undeniably the GOAT for many analysts like this forum thinks. Above CR7, sure, but if you go to a pub and claim he's the GOAT you will surely get in an argument or two.
