Why should he be allowed to leave for free (unless he has a clause)? Demand a realistic fee and be done with it. He deserves a smooth exit, but that doesnt mean we should bend over.
This!

Why the fuck would any Barca fan want Messi to leave? Greatest ever Barca player and still the best in the world who should retire at this club.
How can you easily dismiss the amigos theory when there are such tweets?
Both David Ornstein(ex- BBC and now The Athletic) and Sam Lee(Man City insider) now reporting Man City are indeed talking with Messi and will sign him if Barca let him leave for free.
The Messi FC users have completely overlooked this, it's pathetic. There is growing evidence that there's a club de amigos by the day. It's just sad that users like me, Serghei, and even you are shitted on for posting concrete first party proof.
I am willing to bet he ain't going to City.

Bartomeu is already scheduled to leave. Why would anyone do that to Koeman? If he came, he for sure had a clear agreement with Bartomeu who guaranteed him full powers to set the foundation for a rebuild of the team. Bartomeu is scheduled to leave in about half a year. Him remaining president ensures Koeman the continuity he needs to continue the work he has started.
This is pretty clear to me. Bartomeu started a rebuilding process after the 8-2 historical embarrassment (something he should have done years ago) by investing Koeman with full powers. Who is totally a different animal in terms of mentality, ambition, authority, than guys like Valverde and Setien. This irked the veterans the wrong way, because they felt signaled out. Especially once Koeman started to make some things clear that the way of doing things in the team will change.
Image and reputation? After 8-2 and this? Nah, this is irreversible.
Most jurnos (legit ones) are reporting he wants to leave, point blank. The Messi FC users have completely overlooked this, it's pathetic. Why are you making Barto out to be this martyr and lone voice for revolution?
You've drawn up this whole idea but there's nothing real to support it. Any new board, any new coach is not gonna want Amigos dominating the team. Neither does it fully make sense that Messi is that stupid himself.
To say this is the case would be to suggest that Messi truly doesn't give a flying fuck that we lost 8-2, only gives a fuck that there could potentially be change and he wants to stop it.
Maybe, he just thinks Bartomeu isn't the guy to lead the change and he just wants his head to roll even if it is only symbolic. He probably knows that most of the vets can't hold it together anymore but thinks that the person in charge of moving things in a new direction should be different than Bartomeu the failure and that it's possible to treat the vets better even if they need to step down.
