Lionel Messi - v7

Would someone care to explain me how Bartomeu resigning earlier and the elections being held in November at the earliest is going to torpedo Koeman's project?

The club can continue to keep making signings and other moves with a temporary board, the precedent is there.

Because even the slightest thought in the back of Koeman's head that he might be fired/sacked as soon as a new president and board are in place might hinder his efforts to even try or implement his ideas and plans? Not that he has any plans to speak of right now.

Koeman cleans up, goes back to Int. duty after the elections and Xavi takes over with a clean slate

Precisely, but he needed the approval of Bartomeu to do this. It's been already fact-checked that his conversation with Suarez lasted 1 min, 52 secs. For other amigos, he has implied that they are not in his plans at all (Vidal and Raki specifically). Koeman will look like a fool if Messi's power move works and all the amigos are here next season. This is a big reason why some of us believe he may resign if he's not even allowed to carry out his plans.

I'm not even going to bother to reply to FC Messi posters here since they will claim it's fake news or that club de amigos is a farce created by Bartomeu. Like a proper captain, Messi should give a press conference and let the fans know of his decision. This is clearly a power move to make Barto step down and maybe even keep the amigos intact. If this drags out until the start of the season, then he is burning this club much like Barto.

Not going to lie, soul burning stuff to see the bald magician and his trump card at a plastic club like City.

Arabs money. They even held the Spanish super cup in their country and shifted it to mid year as well as gave it to a team that didn?t win neither the cup nor the league

Best option is Messi and the amigos go and things continue with Koeman making the shots. Then we get rid of Bartomeu in the spring and that's done. This season is a fully transitional one. Until the new board comes in Koeman has enough time to show us if he has some clear ideas, or he was just very good at getting rid of the seniors.

The 2nd best thing is Messi goes, and Bartomeu goes. Koeman keeps doing the same thing with another board. Amigos gone, except the ones Koeman thinks that have something left and can change their ways.

The 2nd worst thing is both Messi and Bartomeu stay, and Bartomeu takes away Koemans' powers to soften up Messi, keeping Suarez in the team to please him. Basically this is Bartomeu chickening out.

The worst possible thing is Bartomeu goes, Messi stays and uses this move to make sure his friends stay as well, basically confirming that this was a power play to make sure him and his group still rule in the team. Then Koeman is either sacked or he resigns because he's been turned into another Setien-like figure with no actual authority over the veterans.

Koeman is not a cuck coach like EV and Setien. He has a reputation to uphold and will resign and go back to the NT. No way he's getting bossed around by players, even if they're Messi and Suarez. In the end it would look horrible on the little dictator, so I hope the worst case-scenario isn't true.

The sensible thing for Messi would be to make a press conference, announce everyone that his decision is very clear, and try to calm down the fans. If he really believes this is the end of the cycle for him, fair enough. Say it clearly himself, and stop this nonsense.

That's what he should do if he has made up his mind and doesn't want to use this to get Bartomeu out.

His reactions so far are consistent with a power play. This might not be true, but that's how it looks to me.

It is clear he has made up his mind and not about outing Barto to stay.

Given Suarez brother?s tweet, it could be that he has bitter friends advising him to take Barto as a casualty

That also runs the risk of Barca being totally powerless in selling him at whatever cost Messi wants. Because once Messi's decision is worldwide and from his mouth, the optics are going to switch to other clubs offering 0.00 - low ball and us holding him against his will if we don't.

There's a reason superstar players don't announce their departure before it happens. The one thing he does owe us is a press conference/explanation for the Bayern game. This one would be like setting kerosene to a fire.

Barca would be a bigger laughing stock if they decide to let him leave for free.

When Messi leaves and calls out Bartomeu, Rosell and everyone culpable for Barca becoming a meme from being a respectable club these last 10 years, he'll be doing the club its best service ever.

Ridding it off people like them forever.

Valid point, there could be a scenario where Messi wants the club to get enough money out of this in order to rebuild
