sorry, but even the most die hard messi fans cant deny that his reputation has taken a massive, perhaps irreparable dent this season generally and this last week specifically

march 7-march 15, 2022 RIP messi's football career.

At the end of the day though, United are going nowhere in the CL, nowhere in the PL, while Messi finally has a decent team behind him again for the world cup, while Portugal probably won't even qualify.

We will see who has the last laugh, probably none of them, but the chance is bigger that Messi gets one final go.

really very skeptical about that. arg may be decent enough, but messi himself doesn't add much to that team. anything messi achieves in france is also irrelevant, while even helping united to top 4 and a decent (for their standards) CL run will look great for CR.

like gician says, watch him KO atleti next.

Messi doesn't add much to Argentina when he led Copa America in goals, assists, chances created, and every single attacking category. Won all the golden balls at the tournament.

Messi had a garbage season with PSG, but he's still looked more than good with Argentina when last seen.

messi's key weakness is mentality which is not easy to recover and i doubt that after the disaster this season has been hell have the tenacity to do anything to argentina. he should be there as a symbol and a substitute but nothing more

Disagree with you on there.

Read the most recent interviews of Emi Martinez, Papu Gomez and even Mario Kempes. They mention along the same line that even just his presence alone lifts the team up, something needed for a team that does not have a lot of international experience.

This team with grit, hardworking and full of running compliments well with Messi's playmaking for international level and they need each other imo.

Who would you play instead of Messi in that team?

If the Ballon d'Or had been given since 2008 with the new rules:

- Leo Messi: 9 Ballon d?Or
- Cristiano Ronaldo: 3 Ballon d?Or
- Lewandowski: 2 Ballon d?Or

? @carrusel

Win for kingleo and donak

imo for Messi under the new rules: 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2015, 2019

Think CR would win the 2008, 2014, 2016, 2017, 2018

Nah, 2010 would have gone to Sneijder, 2012 might have been close between Messi and CR, and 2013 would have been between Messi and Ribery. Rest of the winners would have stayed the same.

Think you folks failed to realize that the tweet @Messigician referred to actually did the math for you guys where under the new rules Messi would have more BdOs, CR would have less and Lewy would have the two he arguably deserved.

Not that it matters much anyway. Messi will end his career surpassing CR7's trophy and BdO tally regardless.
