I understand those lamenting the high contract Messi was on but let me ask this. Let's say he was on 30-50m less each year, do you not think we would have just splashed that on another shit signing anyway? At least with the Messi contract you're getting a known quality for your money. As opposed to 45m for Trincao who's now on loan at wolves. Or do we wait three years and sign another Dembele with the extra funds? He signed a big deal that seemed reasonable at the time in that he was the biggest contributor to the record levels of revenue. Not to mention his sporting qualities which adds tens of millions to his value for a years work.

Accepted a lower salary here but it can't be done and has gone to PSG where he's getting less than half of what he got here right?

Apparently if we accepted the CVC deal we could have registered Messi and it was declared illegal anyway so wouldn't go through but Tebas let's us register new signings lol.

But listen to Perez guyssss he knows best for Barca

It's a shitty deal. Tebas is an idiot offering this and forcing it.

Everyone was getting overpaid at Barca, Messi included. People say the players around him are shit but fact is that in 2016 and 2017 we still had MSN. Messi didn't show up at the party on both those cl exits.

The correct path, if Barto wasn't in charge at the time, would be to renew Messi before mid-end 2019-2020 season, with at least 50% salary reduction which would be logical considering his age and the ongoing pandemic. But we let the contract run out for some reason. It is possible we never wanted to keep Messi, because we simply couldn't and Laporta was lying to everyone about the situation the whole time. What I really dislike about our team right now is the overpaid divas, who actually refuse a salary reduction, despite the really bad circumstances of the Club. I don't think I will be able to support those guys. Just throw in all our young guns so we have something to look forward to and be done with these old bums.

We don't even know the deal lol just what haters are saying.

Only Bilbao ( don't buy anyone) Barca and real rejected it

Can't be that bad dawgs

It meant no Super League, losing potentially huge amount of money long-term (especially the biggest earners, Barca and Real). Smaller clubs it's probably not a that bad deal financially.

Barca and Real could lose billions, if it means no Super League and losing 10% of the profits in LALiga.

His performances in Classicos were also not the same. Last few classicos he was pretty ordinary.

Messi is below his top level and will probably remain that way and regress even more. This is to be expected. What about our other 20+ players in the squad. Did anyone, ever show up when Messi didn't. The answer is no. It would even be logical to pay him all their salaries combined on top of his. This was a one man show for far too long, and that's why he was paid astronomical amounts. Why are Griezmann, Coutinho, Dembele, Umtiti, Pique, Busquets, Alba and c.o. getting paid like the best squad in the world though?

Laporta and the board are still trying to understand the concept of Skype.

Messi will receive - worth 115 million euros - would come if he renews his contract, and the second would be a loyalty bonus of 78 million euros.

He's will earn freaking 200 Million if he stays 1 more year.
