Our main problem is not "number" or formation name is the way we play: TO SLOW with TO MANY TOUCHES.

We have 1000s of problems and a lot of different things in which we could improve.

But our formation against bigger teams is also one of them.
People often say that we are not as strong anymore because we don't run, press, play triangles etc...

But two things are certain:
1. Xavi, Messi and Iniesta are not as good as 5 years ago anymore
2. this is not 2008-2011 anymore, and no matter what some say, all teams (and especially top teams) have learned how to play against us.
We were the best team back then. We were the team who you have to look at, and against whom you need to find a special tactics.
If we assume that other teams are not coached by idiots, it is very easy to realize that if you play against a team who doesn't change anything in their tactics for years (that's us), after each new game/season you will find new things and tricks how to outplay and neutralize them.
Until 2008, they played 2-4 times against our new tactics/style.
Today, opponents have played 15-20 matches against us (and we haven't evolved much since then).

I will always repeat, even with Messi, Xavi and Iniesta in their prime, that team would have troubles today, in 2014'.
In those glory days, our style and tactics were somewhat new and fresh, and most of the opponents didn't know what to do. Most of them played extremely naive against us and they were trashed easily.

Today virtually anyone knows how to play against us.

Yes, we could run and press more. We could play better passes and try not to lose balls (to avoid counterattacks). We are not as motivated as back then, we don't have a faith in ourselves anymore, our players are past their prime, we play too slow. That is all true.

But imo, even with all these things mentioned above working at 100%, I think that we would have problems today against Real, Atletico, Bayern and Chelsea.
Or, in the best scenario, we would be at 50:50 chances.
1. they are all technically equally as good as our team
2. they are all physically stronger
3. they all have a formation/tactics to neutralize our outdated formation

But both in Rijkaard's and Pep's era, our team wasn't "only" 50:50 with top teams.
We were 60:40 favorites against any top team.

Football is changing and evolving all the time.
Our 433 is dead for me against top teams. I would welcome any other 442 or 451 for matches against top sides.
The current 433 will only be weaker and weaker each Season. Again, because we aren't evolving and other teams have learned how to neutralize our current, outdated formation.

A lot of our fans said that the body language from our players was poor again when we started losing against Real.
I will blame 433 again.

What if our players also already know that no matter what they'll try and do, that they just can't score enough Goals, and that they will always concede at least 2 Goals against any stronger opponent (with the current tactics)?
I have an impression that Messi and players think: "I don't have an idea what to do anymore. We tried everything for 1000 times in the last 3-5 years. If we play through the middle, we can't do anything. If we play through flanks, it is even worse. And yet, no matter what we do, we are always caught on 5-10 counterattacks or set pieces, and we always lose."
It seems like they gave up.

I will blame our outdated 433 for most of the problems.
Again, I would play 433 against 90% of midtable and bottom table teams.

But against stronger teams, it just brings loses and frustration.
1. Real just feels "better/stronger" than us in el classicos in the last 3-4 Seasons
2. we don't have any idea how to create anything against Atletico
3. Bayern, Chelsea, Psg, basically, we lose 75% of matches against stronger teams with our 433

The only "naive/rookie" teams which we can still trash and "mask" our problems are "naive" teams like Arsenal, Man. Utd, Roma, Ajax, Porto, Bayer Leverkusen and similar teams.
Who either don't play a bus against us, or who's bus isn't good enough to neutralize us.

Pep's 433, good bye (against stronger teams). Thanks for all the joys and everything.
It's time for something new.

Have people seriously lost it here? Suggesting Mourinho? After all thats happened? Really? FUCK SAKE.

Can one trophyless season and an el classico loss do this much to you? How fickle are you guys?

I wouldn't want that cunt in our stadium again let alone coach these players.

Plus with Mou El Clasico was just drama and fighting. Now that Real has manager who has class and can actually match us on the field it's all gone.

The guy is FUNDAMENTALLY incapable of coaching Barcelona. So everything aside, it ends there. There's no denying his pedigree as a coach but he's not a coach for us.

Point is, one classico loss does not entitle us to talk of a new coach. NOT AT ALL. It's disrespectful to Lucho.

LOL@people wanting Mourinho!

That cunt was one of the reasons Pep left. The whole attacks, drama and other on and off field shit wore Pep down.

I really don't think Lucho is the answer. He may last a season or 2 but I doubt it. When the pressure builds I feel Lucho will say "fuck it" and walk off. He's been given a pass so far but the PSG game will really be a test of how the media treat him in the future.

I think mourinho would be a good coach for us and his strengths would solve our main problems right now. We all also know he secretly loves barca and is only bitter because we disrespected him and then later didnt hire him.

He has also evolved as a coach since madrid days and would be different in his media dealings imo.

But still we all know he will never coach us because bridges have been burned.

Also its obvious that our team is full of complacent losers right now. We cant expec them to put in a shift in the pressing game, its depressing but we should adapt to that and play with a double pivot of rakitic mascherano/busquets in the big games. Messi as the number ten (he'll like this because he doesnt have to move around much but still has an impact on the game).

WTF people? Are you guys overreacting jeez...collective meltdown is not the way we are going to fix our problems.
Lets look at the thingns realistically...

Good things:

1. We are first in Primera
2. We have without a doubt the best attack in the world and Suarez only played his first game. We saw glimpses of what he can do
3. Neymar and Messi are in form and very in sync
4. We ABSOULTELY have depth in our squad in every position
5. Our youngsters will likely end up in first team very fast, and because they were wanted by top EU squads we know what kind of quality they are (Samper, Halilovic, Suarez, Munir etc
5. We have massive room for improvement
6. We have best DM in the world that doesnt play on his position, but all signs point at that being the case in future

With that being said there are bad sides, but nothing that cant be fixed fortunatly

1. Lucho is inexperienced and too rigid. He is hardheaded and rotates too much
2. We rotate to much. Far, far too much. Lucho is "resting" players in beginning of fucking season where they want to play the most. Absolutely mental.
3. Because of rotating we dont have standard starting 11. We DONT have a CB pairing and we change them EVERY week. We also change MF pairings every week but thats slightly less of a problem. Changing CB pairing and putting Mathieu at LB in biggest game of league is beginers mistake. Downright suicidal. CBs have to be in sync and cant be changed on will every week.
4. We press but we press erratically and not smart so it leaves lots of space for opposition to counter us.

So all in all mixed bag...could have been better, could have been worse. Hopefully lucho learns from this defeat and changes his style a bit. He is not God given and if he continues to be stubborn and says "its his way...judge me at the end" he can fuck of right now. This isnt working competely and he as a manager should know that his job is everevolving and not rigid and unchangable.

Btw if he starts Munir and Pedro in Wednesday Im gonna kill myself

Problem is we are not beaten with any specific tactics. Some teams neutralize us with defense but some don't, you can say Real or PSG parked busses, or Bayern against us. So problem must be in us, and if half of our players declined then we have serious problem as all of them, except Xavi, shouldn't.
I don't Know what happened, nobody knows what exactly is happening in dressing room, are they training less, are they fighting, nobody knows...but I have two (healthy for now) eyes and I see we don't play the game we used to play. I do agree teams evoulve, and cnahge their game, get used to us and everything, but that doesn't explain why our game is now 4x slower than it used to be. I'm not saying tactical formation is not important but i don't believe is crucial (see Bayern-Roma).

I can't believe this is even a discussion, Barca isn't going to sell it's soul to the devil.

2. We have without a doubt the best attack in the world and Suarez only played his first game. We saw glimpses of what he can do

This is the most important point. It's useless to call for Lucho's head because we haven't even seen his full team in action yet. Bringing a player of Suarez's magnitude into the squad can galvanize the entire team.
