2.
Xavi (24,1%)
near flawless performance controlling the midfield ~ BerkeleyBernie

Alba (17,6%)
Great play bombing down the left wing and creating scoring opportunities for Messi and co. ~ CF4 1899
17 goals in 12 La Liga matches… Just a couple seasons ago anyone claiming this to be possible would’ve been tarred, feathered and dressed up in pink lingerie for the amusement of the mocking public. But this is 2012 – the year of Messi. Or rather, just another year of Messi actually. 3 times in a row as number one in the
The Official Barcaforum.com MoM-thread takes his season tally to an astounding 9 top spots out of 18 matches. All together he’s now raked up 13 podium placements out of the 18 possible. This time around it took 2 goals and 1 assist for him to amass just over half the points given.
As number two in this matchdays rankings we find Xavi , who seems to be back in his stride after 5 rather lacklustre rounds away from the warm, soothing spotlight of the podium. Two matches in a row as second in line after the brilliant argentine takes his season tally to 10 top 3 appearances in, like Messi, 18 matches. Mighty impressive stuff from the evergreen midfield maestro! Xavi emerges as number two with just about half the votes of Messi, and a quarter of the entire voting pool.
This rounds number three won’t come as a surprise to stalwarts of this thread, as Jordi Alba is absolutely on fire these days! Five top 3 entries from his last 8 games tells the story of what looks like the buy of the season for the Camp Nou faithful – perhaps even for La Liga as a whole? 3 goals and 3 assists so far for the rampaging fullback, and we’ve not even reached x-mas yet. If rumours are to be believed, he was guilty of getting the mighty captain Puyol subbed against Zaragoza, but even though the talismanic centerback looked far from chuffed as he trudged off the field, he should learn to forgive Alba in time, if the 23 year old keeps on playing like this.
Shoutouts of the day goes out to the remaining three players, Iniesta with 3, Montoya with 4 and Song with 7, who all got points to show from the Zaragoza match. It wasn’t much, but at least it shows their performances didn’t go completely unnoticed. There wasn’t much love for either of the returning defenders though, as pals Pique and Puyol raked up a grand total of 0 points. Another player having trouble winning any sympathy votes from the
The Official Barcaforum.com MoM-thread award contributors is David Villa, who has now gone 3 matches in a row with 0 points to show for his efforts. But hey, don’t blame Villa! As we all know, there’s only one person to blame here, and that’s Leo Messi. Because, well, he hates poor lil’ David with all of his black, shriveled, and evil heart. At least that’s what certain conspiracy theorists on the forum wants us to believe.
Anyhoo, enough of the silliness. Tune back to the thread in just a couple of days, as we travel to MOTHER RUSSIA, where we’ll fight yetis, penguins, artificial grass and overpaid footballers with dodgy haircuts in our annual trip to winterland. Spartak Moscow awaits our heroes on the Spartak Stadium.
It looks like we’re back on track in regards to voting attendance, and a big thanks goes out to all of you who bothers writing the small notes on the players, that I can steal for quotes. Cheers! Oh and I've reworked the motm chart a bit, so let me know if you feel like anything should be changed or not.
