Don't think so. He was an unused sub against Ajax & Athletic as well, Mascherano sucked balls in both. I think today really confirms that Martino rates Mascherano and not Bartra.

i actually think Mascherano usually plays really well and reads the game amazingly
of course he has his fair share of mistakes sometimes, like any other player. but i find him as close as it gets to Puyol.

having said that
Bartra is as close as it gets to the amazing Pique we USED to have.

although, Pique had a nice game today. Mascherano was brilliant and as always intercepted many attacks even before they started.

Bartra is younger then both. he should just wait patiently and i can just pray that soon enough we will see him replace Pique. (or even Masch from time to time)
