On a serious note. 4-2-3-1 doesn't automatically imply parking the bus. Dortmund play it, Germany play it (mostly), Heynckes' Bayern played it. Obviously none of the Cruyffistas, Dutch managers and former Barca players know anything else but 4-3-3 or 3-4-3 but 4-2-3-1 is a legit formation.

It is an adaptable formation, yeah, enabling you to be a 4-5-1 in defence and a 4-3-3 in attack.

I quite admire the adaptable 4-4-2 which Ancelotti and Simeone play
