He might not have scored 5, but he's still a lean, mean scoring machine. His game might not be stellar otherwise, but if you create chances for him he'll score.

He's now Messi's only competition for the CL top scorer title. 12-10 Messi for now. Considering the QF haven't been played yet, it's amazing to think that never before has anyone scored more than 12 goals in a CL season and this season 2 different players could conceivably do it.

Some Gomez stats:

35 goals in 36 games this season.

74 in 81 in the past two seasons.

18 in his last 14 CL matches (!)

If he took penalties for Bayern, the numbers would be even more impressive.
