Yeah, that's probably it. I read he has played essentially every single minute more or less?
He never seemed like Mr. Stammina to me anyways.

Based on his talent at 18/19 at Dortmund, I thought Gotze would've been much better than he is now. I can't say I watch much Bayern but a lot of people.expected him to be competing for the balon d'or by now. I thought he was much more refined than neymar but now neymar is surpassing him. Perhaps there is just too much talent at Bayern which stunted his development. He'd be amazing by now if he stayed in Dortmund.

When Halilovic signed for us, I guess that people assumed that he prioritized "real values", isn't it?
I mean, he had a lot of offers, and picked a club based on 2 things:
1. one of top3 most famous clubs in the world
2. we probably offered him a nice wages

Odegaard picked Real:
1. they are also one of top3 clubs in the world, plus currently the best team in Europe
-- no one can blame a kid for picking the best team currently
2. they paid a lot

Further, some people are saying that choosing Real is bad, because they will ruin his career.
But why is Halilovic's pick a better one?

He had 18 when he signed:
-- he knew that he will have to play in our B-team, and someone could say: But Barca's B team is horrible currently. He will stagnate there because his teammates are average, and the coach Eusebio is horrible. If he goes there, his career is ruined.
-- further, Halil signed a deal that he MUST be promoted to Ateam in the 2nd Season

-- so, he hasn't played too much of senior football in Dinamo at all
-- he doesn't play too much for senior NT team
-- Barca's B team is poor
-- if he stays there, he won't develop too much
-- if he will be promoted to Ateam after 1 Season in Bteam, he will be ruined again

So, when people say that Odegaard should have chosen Ajax or some other club to develop better, the same could be said about Halilovic.
He won't get too many minutes in Ateam too soon. And playing under Eusebio in Bteam won't help to any young gem, isn't it?

So, again, too many opinions here are extremely biased.
When someone picks Real (Odegaard), it is because of money.
And when someone picks Barca (Neymar, Halilovic), it is because of love towards our club (and not money, lol), and because playing here offers a better future than playing in Real.

A huge bias by our fans.

Terrific post and not out of convenience but well written.

BBZ, You are way off mate. For starters: Halilovic didn't flirt with every major club in Europe. He only wanted to sign for Barca.

And that is the thing. Some players are sentimental and/or have actual affection to a certain club, and others would swap shirts in a heart beat. There are journeymen, like Ronaldo, who played for Italys and Spain's top dogs, and that is that, no sentimental value or "loyalty" or whatever.

Players do what is best for them in their opinion and top clubs will pursue them no matter what they twee or who they flirt with. Too much thought is credited to a player's feelings or emotional connection to a club, 99% of them to me are employees and they are free to do what they want, and get to the level they dream of whatever the route is.

If money is a factor then so what? How many players went to their favorite club and flopped? How many went to a rival and succeeded? I do not assess character based on affection to a club, but by professionalism in the dressing room, training, on the pitch and interviews.

Thing is, if this guy ended up as a star and then we purchased him, we'd hear that we only buy stars. I think Puyol and Busi also joined at 15/16 the only difference is that these players joined from near by clubs, and were basically free. Many players were hot as fire in the Spanish League so a new kind wouldn't have made any noise. Martin would make a lot of noise in a league that is not as high profile as Spain, so the price is way inflated (Halilovic makes more sense at 2.2 million).

Martin needs to know that he is only 16 and that breaking through to the Real Madrid ranks is difficult but with patience and perseverance he can make it, and he can make the club his own. There are way too many success stories for him to draw encouragement from and there are even more failure stories to learn from. It is all in his hands now.

I'd say that's because Goetze playing mostly out of position (he is a CAM, but under Guardiola's system Bayern doesn't really have a CAM role) and he is not Bayern's focal point of attack right now.

He is only 22, give him time and I am sure he will shine. Whether he will win the BD or not, I don't know, I don't think it matters.

I never expected him (or Neymar, or Bale or anyone for that matter) to challenge Messi and Ronaldo until both of them slow down, but I agree that his form during his Dortmund days was amazing. Thought he would have the 3rd spot locked down by the time he was 21. Bayern, specifically Pep, has hurt his development. Ironic because he Dortmund so he could be coached by Pep. Hell, he'd be better at any European power ASIDE from Bayern.

Gotze needs to go somewhere where he'd be the main man, or at the very least one of the main stars. He's never going to get that at Bayern.

Pep want a great Bayern. No room for that if you make Gotze the focal point of the team.

It's funny how he deleted all his Messi tweets, plus at the press conference yesterday he was all "Ronaldo is the best" already.

Ingratiating himself with his new RM family :shakeshead: I'm sure they deliberately asked him to choose between Messi and Ronaldo because he's a huge Messi fan  Poor kid.

That was one of the first questions they asked him, and his answer was "At the moment, Ronaldo".
