Mats Hummels

Missed a penalty and was generally all over the place against Ryan Babel.

Yeah right, Babel bossed him around completely; that must be the reason Babel had 2 shots - off target by the way- in 79 minutes. Nevertheless, nice attempt to earn some lulz or wiseacre-statements.

Hummels was hands down the best player on the pitch. Fact. It is advisable to watch the entire match instead of some crappy 2 minute Youtube-Highlights.

I didn't watch but Ursegor isn't the only one panning his performance, most reviews I've read stated Hummels had a mediocre match.

He's become the Neymar of defenders - a legitmately great prospect, but one whose legend has outgrown his actual accomplishments.

I think most reviewers are biased because of that missed penalty - but scoring is just the icing on the cake for a successful performance as a CB. Also, from what I've read, many pundits fail to analyze the contribution of a defender correctly simply because it's difficult to put in numbers; and with his status comes an over-the-top benchmark.

While I agree that it wasn't his personal best, it was enough to put Babel in his pocket + the team didn't concede. He opened the pitch, initiated attack-moves and his defensive work was solid. There's not really much more you can ask from a defender.

Can't wait to see this guy against City and RM. After these 4 matches the view will get much clearer. But no. Again it's obviously going to be a fault of Badstuber and the lineup around him.. Not hating. The praise seems way too much though, especially since anytime he's on a big stage he gives mediocre performances more often than not. And he's supposed to be a top 5

Ajax was pretty unlucky not to score couple of times.. he didn't have the best performance .. I was surprised to actually see Ajax do what they did in the match

Ehm... Badstuber plays in Munich, just so you know.

I was referring to the NT performances and the post Euro excuses.

He's good but come on, top 5 in the world? Seriously?
