Pique is hands down our worst starter and Umtiti's future is uncertaun so logically we do need to go big for another CB.

People in charge wont be selling Pique though considering he's a poster boy Catalan. Hopefully he moves on himself and preserves his legacy.

Todibo will not have played in like 8 months when he joins us and is a rookie anyway that is coming for free. I read he also played at DM before this season so he might be the club's future backup at that position too. I think the club will wait a month or two and see how Umtiti's injury problems progresses and look at the market before making a decision on the CB situation.

An impressive performance against Real Madrid might turn their attention to de Ligt, but it would also probably make his price a lot higher..

Upamecano, de Ligt, Konate will all cost 50m+, guaranteed. There is no way any of them goes for lower. The only reason Bayern got Pavard, who's an inferior talent to all three IMO, is because of a dumb release clause of 35m. They were willing to pay 10-15m more to get him this month.

I think if we really want to get De Ligt then perhaps De Jong/Ajax is our best advantage, maybe we can talk Overmas and Ajax into cutting us some slack on the transfer fee.

Raiola is a problem though. Does anyone know what the numbers are for salary and commission etc. that they reportedly are demanding?

Also, should we get him we probably will have to sell someone like Coutinho etc. to balance the books.

We'll be offloading a few players which I think will be enough to get him + someone like Jovic too. Although we definitely need a LB as well. Not sure we'll need to sell Coutinho when the Barca careers of Busquets and Pique who both have high wages are at the last chapter.

Let's see what they do. They might decide to roll on with Murillo and prioritize a LB and Striker.

Do we have any potential LB and CF targets (other than Jovic) at this point, I wonder?

We are in a bind for the LB position. The best ones do not come to come to play second fiddle to Alba and the younger ones might not be good enough. I wonder if Valverde is seriously trying to see if Semedo can play LB and consider him an option there.

Not heard anything about LBs apart from Ferland Mendy, but that was months ago and he's renewed his contract since then I believe.

But they gotta sign someone. Miranda if he'll ever be good enough is probably a couple of years away from that.

If umtiti can't play is there an insurance policy for his wages and could it be take out of ffp calculations. Wouldnt cover the fee of course.

Umtiti? Did you read my post before the one you quote? lol.

Konaté is just another Mina, a defender that is not of the right skill level nor is the type of player that suits the Barca style.

Fanboyism, inventing stuff? That's funny coming from you. Oh well, let's agree to disagree

Do you have problems with understanding English or are you as thick as you sound like?

Konaté another Mina? Thanks for confirming your stupidity once again and you never having watched Konaté for a second. Using that logic MDL is the next Christianval.

Yes, unlike you I am not a delusional and idiotic fanboy of anything other than a club called FC Barcelona. Anyway I have wasted enough of my time on you. Keep trolling.

At LB, what about Cucurella? While not at LB, he’s certainly gotten good Liga experience. Seeing how much we are rotating Alba might make him think he has a chance.

Also, say we do get de Ligt, a 3-back system gets a lot more viable provided Umtiti isn’t going to have to retire. We could do that if we need to rest Alba.

We also have players like Denis and potentially Malcom too we can cash in on if need be.

Matthijs de Ligt: “It’s a beautiful transfer for Frenkie, I am very happy for him.”

“Do I want to follow him to Barça? Well, I think everyone would love to play for Barcelona.”

Frenkie de Jong: “I can finally have my rest now, they can now focus on Mathijs de Ligt” [foxsports]

If he didn’t have Raiola as agent I think we would have got him. Now I don’t believe we will.

Raiola is not his agent. He is just a broker between de Light and his agent. His job is to find the best economic deal for both of them. So I doubt that Raiola will be a challenge. Bartomeu, apparently, has good relations with him as well.

What it is gonna boil down to is whether there are better options out there, whether his rumored price will be worth it and whether or not the club decides to spend big bucks on a CB. Basically the factors that I discussed in this thread earlier. Is Umtiti going to be healthy long-term and can he be trusted for the next season? What is the plan with Todibo? Is he as highly rated as claimed and if such can he replace Vermaelen and get somewhat frequent playing time in the next season? What about Piqué? Is the club ready to move on or turn him into a substitute and is Piqué fine with that or will he look for other pastures or stay as a nominal starter for another season? Would de Light demand a starting spot from the get go given his young age, talent and what is being said in the media that this is indeed the case? Many questions.

Our interest in him is old so a transfer is very possible. Let us see.
