Mavericky Puig

A team like Sociedad would be good for him to go for the rest of the season. Yes he deserves to play, people have been given continuous chances for much worse but it won't happen under Koeman.

I think Puig is a bit stubborn. He refuses to go out on loan, because he thinks he is good enough to be a starter atm at Barca.
But clearly that won't happen soon. Even if Font/Laporta get elected, Koeman will probably be here until the summer, and if Xavi comes we don't know yet whether he is gonna bet on Puig as a basic wheel.

You see there are too many ifs there, and Puig is refusing to do what Alena did last season, just play somewhere at least for 6 months.

Now, Guillem Ballague who is usually well-informed says in the vid below (go to 4.20') that he has not heard about fights in the locker room between Puig and seniors, but that Puig is a bit cocky and not down to earth (the exact opposite of Pedri who is humble). Idk but it sounds believable to me. Given that Koeman hates people with that attitude, it might be the prime reason why he is leaving him out (and less so about his football qualities).

Very surprising, if true. He absolutely doesn't seem the arrogant type from his outward appearance and behavior and didn't have attitude problems in B team(?). Seems fishy to me.

Doesn't add up to me either.

But even if he was arrogant, how is that a reason to bench someone

BBZ should love him now though, since he is no longer a choir boy.

It is for Koeman. And for many other coaches who value discipline, humbleness and hard work ethic.
I think Klopp would have done the same (*if all these rumors are true)

 Hard work ethic? Puig is one of the players who works the hards when he's out in the pitch.

This is a team that has Busquets, Pique and Pjanic in it.

Arrogance does not mean you don't have a hard work ethic or no discipline.

You don't bench someone just because you don't like their personality.

I didn't mean tracking back and running a lot on pitch to cover ground.
I meant hard work in training and working to improve on what your coach wants from you.

It's a combo of qualities: Hard-work ethic usually goes with humbleness not arrogance, and there is some logic to that.
An arrogant person usually thinks he is good enough and needs not work more to improve his abilities.

I don't say there can't find an arrogant person with a hard-work ethic, but not very common

He is, if you call well informed regurgitating any old rumour you can read for free on Twitter. That guy has made a career of pretending he's got the inside scoop on everything.

Wait what happened? I thought BBZ liked the arrogant and cocky players? But if it's a 169cm tall Puig, then suddenly he is a spoiled schoolboy as opposed to his standard of a physical alpha male? Sheesh, how surprising... Talk about a double standard.

1. Immediately after arriving says Puig isnt in his plans

2. After being pressured to play Riqui Puig (constant questions about why he isnt playing etc by the media), he gives him some cameos.

3. Puig impresses fans and the media during his cameos.

4. Pressure to play him increases (media questions to Koeman, he was good in X match. Why isnt he ahead of Alena, Pjanic, etc)

5. Soon after step 3 and 4, Puig has attitude issues. Locker room issues. Work ethic issues, is a leaker and so on...

It's all a bit too transparent, dont you think? None of these rumours were a thing last season or the season before. Either it's completely fabricated or a certain camp is "leaking" these completely new developments in Puig's attitude to justify his limited squad role. All a bit too convenient, right? Like someone else said...idiotic rumours for idiots.

It seems true to me.
Puig always gave the impression that he has too much high confidence (as if he is destined to become the Next Iniesta or sth).
There have been constant attitude issues related to Puig from the media since his La Masia days (whether it is true or not) while other young players like Alena and Pedri were always regarded as humble players.
Puig is not an irreplaceable talent. There is no reason to overhype the kid and whine like a fanboy whenever he is not given any minutes.
