Valladolid had given up, Puig was playing football the few minutes he got.

Sorry if it offends you, but I value winning La Liga over Puig trying to put on a talent show. He knew full well he would hardly play this season from very early on. Lad has some talent, but will never channel it properly if he stays here content with 5 minute cameos here and there. Should put his ego and glamour of playing for FC Barcelona aside and accept a loan in the summer for his own sake.

Valladolid showed in the 2nd half they were capable of maintaining a counter-attack threat even into the latter stages of the match. Red card or not, I don't see what the purpose is of sprinting with the ball through the middle of the park with only a few minutes remaining. Could easily lose it in a bad position and cause problems for us at the back. Goal should be to maintain sustained possession in the final third and take an opportunity if it presents itself, not blitzing the opposing box like it's 5-1 vs PSG.

The purpose was to score for 2-0 and kill the match for good. Surely that would've secured the win don't you think? More than just wasting time. Barca did what you say many times in the past, only to then lose the ball in a bad position trying to waste time and concede a stupid goal.

Normally, I'd want us to go for the kill as often as possible. If you have a chance to score for the 2-0 go for it.

And much thanks to Puig finally getting some minutes, Barcelona finally scored today. And after the goal, Valladolid wasn't close to scoring, despite Puig making a couple of mistakes and trying to shoot instead of letting Trincao shoot.
Just as in all his other cameos, he had a positive influence overall. Insane to focus on the bad after him getting on and playing well.

Read today that Laporta is talking with Xavis representatives. I don't read the situation as Puig having a huge ego or wanting any glamour. But I guess he'll go if the situation stays the same. I'd rather Koeman go.

I don't agree with this most of the time, I was moaning a bit over Sevilla yesterday for example, trying some hard passes and letting Atletico win the ball.
This game was so clearly won after 1-0, it didn't really matter much. One or two minutes left and a good chance to shoot, it's ok to try.

This wasn't about trying some hard passes. That play was basically a player advancing in space. The error was not passing for Trincao and selfishly going for the shot. This could have easily been 2-0 if he did that.

A shot on goal is always safer than a pass intercepted (what Sevilla did x many). Here he had a safe pass for Trincao, who would either try to shoot (maybe from a better position, maybe not) or try to hold on to the ball. I think he would probably try to shoot or dribble, maybe the most likely turn of events would be his shot being covered or him losing the ball.

Well I am arguing from memory, we can put this situation under the microscope a bit more some other day.
