How close he was to score today. Centimeters. Navas was lucky there with the save. Great run from him and Roberto on that play. Hopefully we will see this combination more often.

Had some tough minutes after he entered the match, but got better soon and was a threat going forward. We're really lucky to have Roberto and Semedo both young taking care of that flank. RB problem solved it seems.

I like our options on the left too with Alba and Digne. Defense is looking good under Valverde. Midfield is improving as well. We're just unable to flat out dominate teams from the get go and need to suffer more as a result.

Semedo and Roberto can easily take care of the flank, great chemistry but he needs to play more. Rakitic needs to go off at some point.

His finish on that chance was also pretty good IMHO. Navas barely touched the ball with his left leg and kept it out somehow.

Yea, and the run as well as the 3 combination with Messi and Roberto was great. Right side looks good, and Dembele will make it even better.

Very sloppy first few touches when he came on but then he started doing his thing. Imo Valverde killed his confidence by benching him even though he was playing perfectly in matches. I hope he starts being first RB from now on, Roberto is clearly a midfielder and should be play instead of Rakitic, and now Dembele is back so the Semedo Dembele explosive linkup is back on the table.

Shame Navas saved his shot. Don't know how we would have looked with him instead of Roberto and would he handle the pressure but we'll see more of him in next months.
It's up to him to dislodge Roberto now.

So, at +14, you would CLEARLY bench Rakitic, move RB Roberto to midfield (where he hasn't played for years) and play shaky Semedo?

Posts like this are on the level: sack EV tonight after 3:0 at Bernabeu.

Let's shake a whole team so that one scared and mentally fragile guy could play. (Who has only 1 senior season on his back).

Horatio

You're welcome
Almost made a big @(#*-up but loved the moment he easily outran Varane, controlled the ball well and had a decent attempt at goal. With a bit more confidence this guy can create a lot of threat.

Man it's not too long ago you said you wanted Roberto gone from the team lol

I think Semedo will see a lot more game time in the next year than in the last few weeks, because:

-Dembele returns and he is the only RB fast enough to run with Dembele

-Valverde has probably seen today that Roberto is better in midfield than Denis, so he will hopefully be used as Iniesta substitute, with either Semedo coming of the bench or playing the whole game as a RB with Roberto coming off the bench

How exactly is Semedo shaky and how would benching Rakitic shake the whole team? You don't even make sense, and Roberto hasn't played midfield for years? What the shit are you even talking about?

Roberto played in midfield for years, on the bench. Watching other midfielders play, lol.
Does he have 20 matches as a CM in total in the last 4 senior years?

Moving Rakitic, adding Roberto.
And moving Roberto, adding Semedo are 2 huge changes in the team.

Again, let's shake the team and play a guy as a CM who has 20 senior matches as a CM and a RB who has 1 senior season on his back.

Sounds promising. For Manager games, FIFA, PES and similar.
Chemistry, experience, mental strength, short term impact and short term results. How about those?

Semedo is shaky because some posters are defending him: he is scared because EV doesn't trust him.
Well, the whole forum don't trust to Luis Suarez.
EV doesn't trust to Denis, Gomes, Arda, Deulofeu, Paco, Mascherano, Vermaelen, Digne, Cillessen etc.

Then any of them, when they actually get the chance, should play like a frightened deer?
Cillessen doesn't play for Months. He steps in and plays like a master.
Vermaelen hasn't played for 1-2 years (right?), he steps in El Classico and plays like Maldini.

Semedo steps in and creates 3-4 shits in the first 120 seconds.

Yes, he will be good one day, who knows?
Until then he should try to improve his mistakes and slowly get more and more minutes.
He can't earn minutes ONLY because he is young and because we paid him 50 Millions.
Amount of his minutes till now are equal to how much he showed on the field.
Actually, he even got way more minutes than how much he deserved for now.

I don't have anything against Semedo. I think that he could be a good player one day (unlike Denis or Gomes).
But again, he has to earn his chances and more trust.

And again, you would kick out Rakitic, who is improving lately and who PROVED in the past that he could be a valuable starter, for Semedo, who ISN'T improving currently and who hasn't shown till now that he could be a valuable starter.

Too many of you are too blinded with those "what ifs", "he could turn into something", "he is young".
In this moment, at +14, playing Rakitic as a CM and Roberto as a RB (with Semedo getting some minutes) makes perfect sense.
Anything else would be actually quite illogical and crazy by EV.
