Neymar Jr. - v5

You make it sound as if RM never sell players.
Again, they aren't selling their top players WHEN they are WINNING.

But neither did we.
While we were dominanting, did we sell prime Ronaldinho, prime Etoo, Messi, prime Xavi/Iniesta/Busi?
We didn't.

But again, Barca is past their prime and this team isn't a holy grail anymore.
In fact, we need tons of changes and improvements.

Selling Higuin was more like us selling Sanchez. he lost the battle with Benzema and he had to go,same for Ozil,Robbin,Snijder. ADM is the closest thing and he was sold to sign an even bigger more popular name in James, Robinho was an overrated player there and at his best he was at same level of Neymar worst. He was sold when they were winning because he was never a true superstar.
Neymar status is one of the world biggest super star in football. You simply don't sell that, it gives bad message in the popularity and marketing of the club and this matters a lot on the long run.
And Barca past their prime is still top 5 teams in the world, you make it like we are a bad team. We aren't.
And there isn't anyone in the market that can truly replace him for us, Mpabbe won't leave this year and mos likely a RM fan, Dembele don't protect the ball and he would be punished for this in Liga well and still way behind Neymar level. We aren't getting Verratti anyway (and he is injury prone player)

Enlighten me.
Who was the best European team from 1990-2005?

Milan has 8 CL finals in those 20-ish years.
5 Cl titles and 3 lost finals.
For comparison, Barca has 4 Cl titles and only 4 CL finals in the last 12 years with Messi when we dominated the world.
Milan managed to the same for 20 years.

.

Italian teams had lost its glamour with the financial crisis they had in early 2000'. Milan was most attractive in late 80's and early 90's. Even if they were winning they weren't that popularin 2000's.
Only big deal that team under Ancelotti was Nesta, even Sheva was signed in 90's and from a smaller club. Others were older player or less big names

Damn Mbappe is 7 years younger than him, probably suits Valverde style more too, I don't think the party boy peak is gonna last long anyway. If we sold him and had a board with brain, we could actually convert this team into a dominance for the next decade, but won't happen.

In hindsight I'd POSSIBLY take Mbappe AND Verratti at the expense of losing Neymar ....if Neymar is indeed unsettled or restless ..

Do you think it was up to Barcelona to set the buyout clause at only 222m? I have no doubt Neymar Sr. negotiated the buyout clause as low as possible so he has room to renegotiate the contract anytime soon knowing clubs like PSG, City and United can afford the 222m.

Sure, it has always been a tussle between the club and the agent of a player, I am just saying the club should wield more power and insist on higher amounts in future discussions now without the added protection from the sales tax.

Every year the same with this guy  Why do spain have those buyout clause? thats a bit unfair compared to other countrys with none. In these times where clubs can spend as they wish its not smart to have a buyout. Verrati cant join us because of it but neymar can if he wishes:facepalm: just because of it....

PSG have unlimited money, it will no problem even if it was €1Billion.

Then why haven't they been exploiting Spain's buyout clause policy?

There are plenty of elite players and talents in many Spanish clubs. Why haven't they been triggering any buyout clauses?

Surely instead of signing a near retired Dani Alves, they could have triggered the release clause of any established or talented RB in Spain. Why aren't they triggering Griezmann's buyout clause when they desperately need another striker?

Looooool, man there is no such thing as unlimited resources. PSG most expensive player ever cost them around 65M. They aren't even able to pay crazy money like City or Many.
Never mind FFP. There is almost zero chance that any team in the world pay that buyout clause. World records has been slowly broken for over a decade, now you think it will be doubled in a year

That last quote sounds like the original reporter trying to cover the bases in case it falls through.

Can someone clarify to me how the release clause works?

Let's say a club activates the player's release clause (in this case ~200 mil for Neymar). does that mean Neymar HAS to be released or does it still need the player's approval? None of this could happen if Neymar disagrees to it right?

Same with any transfer. It needs the players approval.
