Neymar Jr. - v5

Can someone clarify to me how the release clause works?

Let's say a club activates the player's release clause (in this case ~200 mil for Neymar). does that mean Neymar HAS to be released or does it still need the player's approval? None of this could happen if Neymar disagrees to it right?

Club can reject like Athletic Bilbao do.

Then the buying club have to transfer the amount to the player's account who goes to the RFEF/LFP offices, fills the paperwork and pays the amount to the club to release himself from his contract.

Expect Barca to reject the bid if it happens.

If Neymar releases himself from the contract and leaves through the back door, he's almost up there with Figo for me. Ditching Barca like that for PSG after all the troubles the club have had to go through.....would truly be a traitor.

Barca have nothing to gain from getting 222m. We'll still be without Verratti and then Neymar, with the market ruined as clubs will demand more money from us.

The least Neymar can do is give Barca the chance to negotiate with PSG in a deal where Verratti comes here.

This, if he truly decides to leave.

These are the kind of things Neymar brings to the club and doesn't make up for them on the pitch...

Nonsense.

How does links to other clubs have a bigger impact than being one of Barcas top performers?

I think he should go. If opinions like yours are at all reflective of amongst the support.

I don't think this is down to Neymar, it's his greedy money whore of a father and entourage. I doubt he actually wants to leave and if he did decide to the PL makes the most sense with the hype, City and Pep etc.

Also i don't see how PSG could pull this off, im hearing the deal over 5 years would cost around €500million

I'm actually scared to think how our board would spend €220m..

If Neymar wants to go to PSG it makes no sense for him to try and make sure Barca are ok and get Verratti.

Well said Don. If he truly wants to leave for PSG, we should make it harder for him to do so like Bilbao did with Javi Martinez, I don't care about burning bridges if he really goes.

Good point you made about clubs wanting more money from us if we have 220m+ of cash in hand. Even if we could and we wanted to, there aren't many great players that we can get right now by throwing money.

I hope this is all baseless BS but I am afraid there had to be something that triggered this latest round of rumors.

Yes, but burning all bridges like this?

Deserves to be treated like Figo then.

The club should in fact take a plea deal and put the corruption trial on Neymar Sr. And his head.

I think he was referring to general decency considering how much problem we have had with his transfer in the first place, it is our wishful thinking. Of course he doesn't have to do that and most likely won't, since he wants to have a great team around him to help him win more silverware.

If PSG triggers the release clause there is absolutely no chance Verratti will come to us. The only possibility of us getting him is PSG doesn't trigger it and instead engages in negotiations with us.

Then he'll deserve nothing but the pig's head next time he's in Barcelona.

Thats fine if you feel that way or anyone does but Neymar should not be going to PSG at same time as asking them to give up their best player.

I wouldnt feel that way at all about him.
