Neymar Jr. - v5

Improvin' Perfection!!
From history..... If this shit is happening, i.e., people (meaning forum members) fighting against each other, which tends to happen more so in one particular player's thread more so than in other places like Caffe Catalonia or some thing like that which was meant to be a place to be hanging out in the first place..... It only means that the team is going through a shit phase.

History is repeating itself, the club is indeed in a shit phase and things do look bleak...... Unfortunately

Well, as a fan of Barca, I want trophies and results first. Fun comes after those two.
And for example, I think that Neymar's style (show) is killing and ruining our team.

I'm no "fan" of anyone. Being a "fan" of a particular player is not the same as appreciating the rare qualities of a player. Neymar is undoubtedly one of those, only the blind will deny it.

On the other hand you are also right, we have a very different angle to watch the same games.
You want results and trophies, which I also like and desire but for me the most important is the quality of football I can see.
The results are on the day-to-day basis of the game, whereas quality lives on for decades in your memory.

But tell me frankly please, if you are a declared fan craving for results and success, but I'm only a bastard who loves quality and style, which one of us can be more objective towards the entire team, the coach or the individual players???

To call anyone a fanboy is already destroying any common soil for fruitful discussion. "Either you agree with me or you're a fanboy" wow .. what a fantastic statement for someone who is sincere about debating and exchanging. How do you want the opposite part to lend you any ear starting your arguments by this type of thesis. If you ridiculize the intellect of a poster he's not gonna pay attention to anything you say. This is a general statement not about you BBZ.

lol I was about to post this. How this thread's "debate" is reflective of Barca's performance.

i think slowly he's going to grasp the notion of subjectivity to these issues .. I'm a barca fan to the core, and for me performances and style are on par with the results, and if i were forced to choose i'm most likely going with the performances.. People had forgotten all together about the very essence of football : Entertainment. If you look up the dictionary you'll find out it's a game .. it's about joy, now i'm not saying it has necessarily to be individual brilliancy like Neymar's but it could also be a collective one .. we play 60 games a season, 2 hours a game .. that amount of time we spend watching.. for what ? for a goddamn chalkboard ? well not me ! otherwise i would'nt have been watching the premier league and other leagues worldwide. If we were to play dull football and win trophies, i would never be happy about it.

You are either a "Sell ney to PSG asap" guy here or a fanboy according to them.

Almost true, more or less...
All I care about is to see enjoyable, creative and nice football. That's how I started watching and following Barca, because this team was the only one playing THAT kind of the game.
Of course once one steps into the caldron, and you get to know the team you sort of become a fan. But that's right it may fade when only mediocre players add up the team, even if it wins all the time.

I'm not a fan of any individual player, neither Neymar or anyone else, perhaps Messi as the only exception, because he is a talent that you can hardly ever see.
But I'm old enough to foretell that many of you will be proud in 15-20 years when mentioning to the youngsters that you had regularly been watching the MSN... By that time nobody will actually remember which year the team won the Liga, this or that cup, but the MSN will be still legendary. Not only due to the titles they collected but the way, form, creativity and before all the ARTISTIC qualities they represent...

I'm genuinely shocked and, quite honestly, a bit disturbed to hear someone who has such strong opinions about the majority of our squad say such things. Despite what anyone on your side may say, this is a very huge revelation from you and almost puts you in Mandrake territory, as far as I'm concerned.

In 15-20 years the world won't be talking about MSN, they'll be talking about an entire ERA of dominance from FC Barcelona, one that included Eto'o, Henry, Pedro, Bojan, Xavi, Iniesta, Puyol, Pique, Valdes, Alves, Busquets, Messi, Deco, Keita, Ronaldinho, Villa and many more, with MSN, as they are now, only having a SINGLE YEAR of the dominance they were supposed to carry. You can find compilations of their dominance of that first year. Videos nearly an hour long of nothing but great passes, perfect linkup, and beautiful goals. But now? Now MSN is a cancer to the team, and I don't make that statement lightly. Even IF the entire world could only remember our less impressive treble season because we had the "legendary" (lol) MSN, I, as a Barca fan from the moment I turned on a professional football match know the way having three unbenchable superstars has negatively impacted the team. We're missing out on SO MUCH because we're unwilling to slap Neymar and tell him to improve, because we're unwilling to bench Suarez when he isn't scoring, when we're unwilling to use anyone in our front line that isn't one of MSN because they're "Legendary" and we can't win without them, even when we lose. Just look at the signings we've been able to make to improve our attack since signing Suarez. All we could get was... Paco. A player so outlandishly average that going into February he hasn't scored a single goal, and isn't looking like he'll get more opportunities to try in the coming months because we needed an actual sub, and not a player who will maybe one day impress us.

I don't even know what keeps you here if you're only a fan of the beautiful football of MSN, because that particular trio hasn't been playing well together for over a year now. Neymar plays like trash more often than not (I don't want to get in a discussion of if he's good or if he sucks or any of that blah blah blah, but the simple fact is he's nowhere near the unbenchable superstar he's chalked up to be) nowadays and Suarez is just kind of... there. In order for us to improve one of them is going to have to leave. Whether it's Suarez, who seems to be declining exponentially as he ages, or Neymar, who completely forgot how to score a goal, it doesn't matter to me, but we've been successful before them, and we can be successful after they've gone, and when we win another treble, or two, or three with ANY player who ends up replacing them (And no, we don't need the MSN to win trophies or avoid becoming mediocre) in the coming years and decades, MSN won't be the topic of conversation, BARCELONA will be, and instead of talking about Lucho, or Pep, or Tata Martino, we will talk about the Barca of the 2000 era, the one that went through ups and downs quite frequently, but still managed to be the god damned best.

If you can't understand that or simply don't care, you're free to do as you please. Lord knows we have plenty of non-fans on this forum already.

Well, he at least has balls to say what he said, so he can never be on Mandrake's territory. Do not offend the guy this way.

Chill. The guy is simply a neutral football fan that probably started watching MSN clearly around the time they were playing great. More power to him for not abandoning ship immediately now that they are not playing on that level again. Also, I am pretty sure he knows Barca won't rely on MSN til the end of times, but as long as Barca is playing the football he so enjoys he will watch their games.
And what is wrong with non-fans? We should embrace them as they bring a healthy dose of objectivity and new perspective to discussions(I am not talking about haters, but neutral fans that enjoy watching Barca).
