I'd say Romario is a Tier 1 player, very skilfull and the second most clinical finisher on the list after R9. Perhaps you could even argue the most clinical.

How high would you guys rank him when taking about the great Brazilian players? Better than say Rivaldo?

He's pretty low on the list for me. I don't think in fifty years time we'll even remember Neymar, nor talk about him alongside the really great players in Brazilian history. He has a lot of goals for Brazil, yeah, but everyone is stat padding in international football nowadays and records are constantly being broken. Other than that, honestly, what has he actually done? He had two brilliant years at Barca, he's spent 70/80% of big PSG games sitting on a treatment table. The talent was there, but it's been thoroughly wasted in my opinion. I put him on the same level as someone like Dani Alves - but when you're an attacking player that makes you far less memorable.

Peak Ney was unplayabale, during 2015-2018 he has showed his class. How many years has Ronaldinho played on high level? From the attack players only R9 and Ronaldinho were stronger for me.

Neymar vs Ronaldinho is a tough objective comparison if you take likeability out of the equation.
Dinho was an absolute favourite of mine and was much more than goals and assists (Neymar as well tbf) but in truth he only had one season that was slightly more effective than Neymar who also has longevity on his side.

Ronaldinho's two most productive seasons:
05/06
45 games
26 goals
24 assists
G/A every 78 minutes.

06/07
49 games
24 goals
14 assists
G/A every 112 minutes.

Neymar's two most productive seasons:
14/15
51 games
39 goals
10 assists
G/A every 83 minutes.

15/16
49 games
31 goals
25 assists
G/A every 79 minutes.

All-time:

1. Garrincha
2. Pele
3. Ronaldo
4. Carlos Alberto
5. Romario
6. Didi
7. Cafu
8. Ronaldinho
9. Zico
10. Socrates

Last 3 Generations:

1. Ronaldo
2. Ronaldinho
3. Roberto Carlos
4. Cafu
5. Dani Alves
6. Rivaldo
7. Marcelo
8. Kaka
9. Lucio
10. Neymar

Hope this helps. His lack of accomplishment fr with Brazil is why I put him so low. Even when Brazil won the Copa last, it was Dani carrying the effort and being the real heart of the team. Last few times Neymar has been the heart, Brazil have disappointed.

Considering that and the fact that all of these players have a similar club trophy haul outside of Rivaldo, he barely scratches the top 10 of the post-modern era. And even with Rivaldo, he was at the heart of their last World Cup victory. Considering the class Rivaldo showed on his own at the club level with much less complete teams than Neymar has had the privilege of playing with, I dont find it crazy to rate Rivaldo over Neymar.

Neymar basically is having the career Robinho could have had. If you want to compare Neymar to a Brazilian, him and Romario are the best matches for me.

Neymar is level with peak Denilson and peak Kerlon, and just below Djalminha.

The only difference is peak Denilson only showed up bi-annually while Kerlon was ruined by injuries.

Imagine Ronaldinho with Suarez and Messi though

Place Ronaldinho in Neymar's Brazil and he wouldn't have any world cups either. People are acting like Ronaldinho was an all-star, super playmaker responsible for their win in 2002. He had two good games in which he wasn't even their best player. Dude was a part of the greatest Brazilian NT ever right after Brazil's 1958-1970s generation.

Not surprising when the 94-2002 generation fizzled out and Ronaldinho became the main face of the team in 2006, they started to play like shit and were basically a shell of what they used to be.

Using NT trophies to judge a player's talent isn't a good metric IMO, unless he was the MAIN reason they won said games and not a part of a historical great team; ie Maradona, Beckenbaur, teenage fucking Pele scoring hattricks in 1958 etc.

Hard to tell.
Rivaldo played at a bad Barca, when big teams weren't as rich as today and when they didn't statpad wins, trophies and club&individual stats.
But he played at a better Brazil and had two WC finals in 1998 and 2002 and won Ballon D Or.

From 90s till today:
Tier 1: Ronaldo9, Ronaldinho
Tier 2: Rivaldo, Neymar
Tier 3: Romario, Kaka, Cafu, Roberto Carlos, Dani Alves, Adriano

Adriano was the most complete forward I'd ever seen. It's very sad what happened to him. Could have been in GOAT tier

Zanetti: "Adri, you?re a mix of Ronaldo and Zlatan Ibrahimović. Are you aware you could become the best player ever?? We did not succeed of pulling him out of depression."

It's not his football.

THIS is the reason why boomers keep saying their favorite players of the 2000s/1990s were better than Neymar.  looks horrid

Considering Brazilian Ronaldo had some God-awful haircuts as well, i very much doubt it, this is nothing new.

He also was three times the player Neymar is, even peak for peak. In fact, he is the most gifted footballer I've seen along with Messi. A lot is excused when you have otherworldly talent.
