QUOTE I'm not suggesting: "Neymar is only showing his trade in South America and therefore he is crap and has no talent." Stack, I don't underrate the Brazilian league at all. My problem is that Santos is also playing against a lot of second, third and fourth tier teams from lower leagues and there are tons of YouTube videos of how he makes nice flicks and stepovers against those and people already want to splash "the Ronaldo money" on him. While he undoubtly has talent, it's exaggerated to an extend ("worth € 60 million"). If you put Götze, Hazard...in Santos and let them play in the Paulista, they'll also stand out and look like the second coming of Pelé. Guaranteed. The Campeonato Paulista has 20 teams. As of 2011 it included the likes of:
Ponte Preta: Serie B
Oeste: Serie D
Mirassol: Serie D
Portuguesa: Serie B
São Caetano: Serie B
Americana: Serie B
Bragantino: Serie B
Ituano: Serie D
Grêmio Prudente: Serie B
Santo André: Serie C
Neymar's goalscoring record in the Serie A: 40 goals in 85 games (0.47 goals per game).
Neymar's goalscoring record in the Paulista: 37 goals in 56 games (0.66 goals per game).
Robinho's goalscoring record in the Serie A when he was as old as Neymar: 46 goals in 111 games (0.41 goals per game)
Finished and fat Ronaldinho as of 2011 in the Serie A: 14 goals in 28 games (0.5 goals per game)
Hazard's stats this season in Ligue 1: 17 goals and 16 assists in 33 games.
Make of all that what you will. He remains a kinder egg. He could become the next Robinho or the next Ronaldinho. If he joins Barcelona with the mindset "I'll be the star now like in Brazil" and realises that the level of football in general, that of his competitors and that of his teammates is a "bit" higher than what he was used to at Santos (dwelling 5 seconds on the ball to pull a rainbow flick), it will kill him mentally. I'd rather have him join a team like Malaga first in La Liga. But that won't happen since football has become so commercialised nowadays. QUOTE
I will add to this that Neymar does have a god record in the Copa Libertadores and has been promising for Brazil. However much of the youtube videos and stats are credited to playing against weak teams in both the State and Brazlian league. Id also like to add that I would like to seem him come to Barca for the right price but a year or 2 at another European club would be my preference, however considering the price expected to be put on him not many lesser teams can afford him bar the likes of PSG.
