He is not on the average of what he did previously, his goal record in the brasilero and continental competition improved clearly.

Any player in the world finds it tougher against well organised defences that is not rocket science.

The fact is he had his best goal scoring spell and highest ratio of assists in that league since the Olympics.

Nothing shows that he is stalling one bit. Quite the opposite he is getting better.
You are ignoring when I say he's stalled when he has to face stronger defenses, aka england, italy, russia, and just focusing on the br league. For the br league he is indeed fine, he's just miles away of being worth a 50mi signing for Barça. He's not getting better for european standards.

Ronaldinho at PSG (age 21-23)

Ronaldinho at Barca (age 23-28)

Notice how much he improves, after 3 years of facing European defences at a smaller club. You see a lot less pace burned, less kick & rush tactics, and a lot more technique/awareness. This is what Neymar won't get, and he has nowhere near the imagination and pure talent that Ronaldinho had to begin with.

And when Ronaldinho or Messi get challenged by defenders, they hold them off and dribble past them. Neymar falls on the ground every single time -- and half the time when only the wind hits him.

Robbie is my favourite Gunner ever, not that it's that hard considering the noobs we've had on here, but now it's out there.

You guys are all talking about progression, but that's really the reason he has stalled -- isn't it? In Brazil, he's called the next Pele, already being compared with Messi, and is on astronomical money. Something like 20 million when you add in endorsements. In Brazil, he isn't a prospect. He's already the best.

Did Zidane have a 20 million deal when he was 20? Did Xavi? Did Messi? No. They all had to fight for it, and got to progress and improve the right way. Neymar is relaxing and having a good time in Brazil while the likes of Goetze, Hazard, Isco, etc are facing the strongest possible competition to raise their games, week in and week out. When 2014 hits, he'll still be a big fish in a small pond doing 50 million stepovers and walking the ball into the net in the Brazilian league. But he'll also still be useless against any European side. He won't have the luxury of years of having to face these types of defenders. Then the hype will all come crashing down when Brazil gets humiliated on their own turf.

Great post, completely valid points.

He was Brazils best player against Italy, while I agree he was poor against England and Russia.

Although Messi and Ronaldo have had periods of 1/2 years when they have not been effective at international level, so it is nothing unique to Neymar.

He has done evreything he can in South American football and has played one major tournament for his country aged 19.

There is no sign at all of him stalling - he is struggling to produce his form at international level at 21!!! Messi and Ronaldo themselves had this problem at a later age.

What exactly have the likes of Moura, Gotze, Isco etc achieved at intl level? Not as much as Neymar I would say.

I didn't really watch much of Barca Ronaldinho era. Since him and Neymar are the same style. Did Ronaldinho himself need tons of space? Or could he still do shit in enclosed spaces like how Barca makes it?

There was more space for Barca during that time, and during his first years Ronnie was superb at exploiting space due to his speed and technique, but he could still operate when space was limited due to his technique, ingenuity and strength.

Ronnie at his peak had the footballing brain to go along with his speed and skills. He also was strong on the ball whereas Neymar just looks to go down at the slightest whiff of contact.

Ronnie truly could have been one of the greats had he not let the party life control him.

Bye, bye, Brazil
Neymar has one foot in europe. Understand why.
His game is stagnated
Santos' directors want to sell him now
Barcelona is sure they need him.

Oh well.

Where does it say that they want to sell him as his game has stagnated?

Just below the bye bye brazil. "O futebol do craque estagnou" and "cartolas santistas pressionam pela venda já". It's a media consensus here now that he's stalled. Many claiming him to move before it's too late, like real Ronaldo.

They are going over the top after he didnt come to europe and dominate games like he has in Brazil.

Probably same people that claimed he was up there with Messi and Ronaldo a short while ago.

How strongly does it link him with Barca?
