Nothing wrong in what Laporta said, the club offered him exit where it will be better for him. Many reports already he was offered for free exit where we save money.
So there isn't an argument of "he is looking for himself " as he will get his sign in bonus and big salary either way.
So him staying put hurts financially for both the club and himself (unless agreement with next club is below current salary).

Also, termination of contract can be done unilaterally without extra burden on the club, he will just get bad same money he was going to be paid if he was under contract in the same time frame. But it just doesn't make sense to do it.

He gets to decide what is better move for him not Barca.

Of course he is looking out for himself. They all are.

Anti-everything
I blame the board for this personally.

Board obviously told Dembele he is the future and will be a vital part of Barca's future.
They've asked him to significantly reduce his salary because of the financial constraints.
Dembele agrees to sign, board beleives this to be true etc.
Barca then purchases ferran for 55m+ from city without being able to register him
Barca also seen to be chasing halaand.

Dembele realise they've been mislead and feel betrayed.
In retaliation they significantly increase their demands thinking that they have even more leverage with the ferran fiasco.

Barca rightfully hold firm. And decide to extend umtiti (for the same money thankfully).

Dembele camp beleive that if barca truly valued him there would of been further negotiations with options of deffering payments etc.

Ignoring the previous errors made by the board, it only gets worse from here. Instead of just accepting that both parties will not be able to Meet in their valuations and that the player isn't keen on leaving in Jan they should of accepted the loss and looked to plan for the coming season. Instead they launch smear campaigns against the player to either force him to sign or leave.

Clubs like city, bayern etc would of used the player when needed and let him leave without the circus. The moves and statements made by the club dont make the club look strong or competent in any aspect either and only hurts the club itself.

A classic case of hypocrisy. All the shenanigans Dembele pulled before and the gripes we have with him aside, this is a typical situation found between many players and clubs, with the player not wanting to renew on the club's terms while the club is not happy to lose the play for free. It happens, and quite often. To come out after the window already closed to add more fuel to the fire to make Dembele look bad is really, really petty on the part of Laporta.

It's not that simple.

Have explained it again.
Different situation when club and player/agent try in earnest to find an agreement and an agreement can't be reached, then the club decides to EITHER sell OR use until the end of contract

Here, Dembele and his agent did nothing in earnest:
they played a game for a year or more, starting from Barto's presidency and continuing until today,
fooling the club, sending false signals, all with the intent to bite time until summer arrives and he can assess all different offers from all interested clubs with the sign-on bonuses in there.
They on-purpose literarily stripped the club off of their autonomy in deciding to sell or to use.

Then, Allemany is 100% on the right here with Dembouz.
What he deserves is the stands, or even better terminate his contract paying off his remaining wages (in which case he could not even use the club's facilities until June. He will be an alien body to the club, harming his career and his development even more)

Realize this: There is nothing petty in being just.

Playing him will result in him being in the stands in about 3 weeks maximum anyway.

The guy has barely maintained more than 2 consecutive months of availability his entire spell at the club.

The club might have offered him free exit (doubt it, otherwise there wouldn't be any alleged negotiations with PSG, if we believe those reports that they took place), but if there are no clubs wanting to take him right now, there is nothing he can do. Not his fault that he doesn't want to accept the renewal offer and no other clubs want to take him right now.

It was very unnecessary for Laporta, to say the least, to say what he said today about him. What good does it serve? To piss off Dembele while we are paying his wages for the next 6 months, or does Laporta believe if we piss him off enough he would just pack up and leave without wanting the rest of his salary he is owed? To make the fans more upset and mad about Dembele, in the event that we do need to play him again, making a mockery out of the club?

Barca tried to play games with Dembele just as they did with Messi and pissed him off.

They lost but some are so desperate to see this as some kind of masterclass it would take paying him in full for last part of season and not playing to be seen as some victory.

Just usual nonsense and nothing gained from it other than trying to make seem got own way in end.

That's an unreliable info from a no-one-knows journo

All the reliable ones close to Barca reiterate that Dembele is not going to wear Barca shirt again.
For instance:

@FabrizioRomano
Barcelona president Joan Laporta reveals: “We think Ousmane Demb?l? has an agreement in place with another club”.
“He didn’t want to leave the club in January. It’s really difficult to understand his position, makes no sense for him and for the club”
@tjuanmarti Replying to @FabrizioRomano
Club's position is clear: he won't play never again with Bar?a. Unless Xavi makes big pressure...

Jammy is in for a big L this semester

And the morons will make out it is a 'masterclass' if Barca pay Dembele not to play.

Lets see if you can finally get a W and Dembele stays in stands.

The bold part is inconsequential, let's stick to the fact: Yes they have been dragging their feet to renew, there is nothing new or surprising about this, many players have done it. Each has his or her own reason and circumstances for sure but the bottom line is, it is not an obligation to renew with the club before your contract is up. \

Even if you were right and let's say Dembele is the total villain here and the club is the one being victimized, OK, put him to the stands, don't have your president come out and complain like a cry baby. Petty.

Yes, it's a 'masterclass' to send a message that you cannot fool around with Barca
Deal with it
