How is it Tito's fault?

Management can be blamed for not notifying Tito or Roura that Thiago needed to be played a certain amount of minutes or that a stipulation kicked in where we could potentially lose millions on a transfer.

The contract and the stipulation was signed when Pep was still the manager. Tito never signed off on such a deal, Pep and Rosell both did.

Pep is now years later using that very stipulation to strengthen his current club. How is he not an asshole for doing this?

Keep the buyout clause part aside for a moment - Tito did a bad job managing Thiago this season. And he overplayed Xavi. He is to blame for that to start with. Now bring back the buyout clause. Obviously it's not his fault for not knowing about it. But had he done his job well, we wouldn't be having this conversation and the drop in Thiago's buyout clause wouldn't have happened.

Coaches have no say in and nothing to do with player contracts, so saying Pep signed off on Thiago's deal along with Rosell is ridiculous.

The last part is so absurd I'm not even going to comment on it.

So many childish and disgusting posts today. And coming from people I would have least expected it to come from. Such fickleness, such immaturity.

These are the facts:

Tito didn't play Thiago enough to keep his buyout clause from dropping to 18 million.
FCB are making no efforts to keep Thiago - no improved contract offers, no promises of better treatment or more playing time, nothing - they never even said they'd like him to stay.

How anyone can take these facts and distort them to such an extent that Pep or anyone else except Rosell and Tito ends up being the asshole is beyond me.

Yeah. I'm not even going to bother debating with people about this anymore. A few people like DonAndres & jamrock got the point across already. Sure, I'm a little upset about the Thiago situation but to blame the whole situation on "Scumbag Pep" when the real culprits are the people in charge of the club right now... no way.

What does Odilio Rodrigues gain from lying? ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.

Sorry I'm going to believe him when he said Pep talked to Neymar's father and said what he said.

He gains nothing from lying about the situation, especially when the deal has already been made and they aren't that happy about it anyways.

I know Pep can do no wrong in a lot of your eyes but he tried to foil our deal with Neymar and then pulls this. I respect the accomplishments he achieved with the club as both player and manager but he's a snake.

Hope both Pep and Thiago fail miserably at Bayern.
Those who pick Pep over FC Barcelona and invent excuses should take a long hard look at themselves.

Well said. There are too many who value a manager or player above the club. Barca is more important than all.

We can't forgive pep for what he's doing now.

I'll take a more drastic viewpoint if Thiago actually leaves, which... hasn't happened yet, despite everyone denouncing him on these forums at least twice.

Not about anyone being bigger than the club but about someone quite possibly uncovering huge problems with our club.

No, those aren't facts. No one knows what's going on behind the scene except the people involved. We don't know shit about what's being said on either side. EMD, Sport, Marca and al. don't know shit either.

People on here have a serious problem distinguishing what's a fact and what's not.

That's what makes Odilio Rodrigues' claims even stronger, he doesn't have a side he's working for here.

He has no reason to lie.

Let's get things straight though. While pep is not being very honourable he is still entitled to what he's doing as his interests should be with bayern now. Its the people that go on as if pep is infallible and has so much "class" that annoy me.The real enemy is Rosell. He is a fucking cancer for this club.

Who's lying and who's telling the truth? I don't know. The whole thing just seems childish. On another note though, in some ways Pep does have more sense than a lot people.

Pep said:
Tito Vilanova's name never came up, ever. It's not for me to say whether he's capable or not because he has been my assistant for five years, and last year, what he did, with the most successful league in Barça's history, is enough evidence so that it doesn't matter whether I say he's capable or not.
