many people ask the question, why does Pep insist on leaving soon? I don't think it's for experience or the need of proving himself in the mighty Premier League. the reason to why pep wants to leave soon is only down to one thing.

awareness.
he is aware on how football works. he knows how we fans work. and how does he know it? well, it comes down to the last days of him as a player. in his last league mach, he was subbed off for petit, in which he was booed off. great thing to do for a player that has played in 17 years for the same club crest. as luchoat that time says, "it's like apart of the club crest is gone nw that pep wants to leave".

or rivaldo, "whereever he'll go, he'll always have Barcelona his heart and he will always be a Culé".
something really remarkable that happened was in the Copa semifinal against celta vigo. a season that had totally failed and we were 5th behind valencia with 4 points to go.. we had alread lost the frst fixture with 3-1 and we drew thi one in the camp nou. that's not what's special about this fixture. what's special is that this fixture was the LAST fixture for pep, our capitan, as a player for Blaugrana.

2 minutes after full time and the stadium is half empty already. the fans that are there are booing and moaning abou the team. lucho walks up to the audience and says, "what re you doing? don't you realize tht ths is Peps last match? don't you remember what hehas done for this club?"
then Lucho and Sergi Garcia walk up to Pep, raise him to their shoulders and start carrying him around. andthat'swhen a weak breeze of applause start.

so that's the reason why pep wants to leave. he knows thatno matterhow good you play, no matter for how long, the moment you start losing consistently, people forget about whatyou have done. that's why he insists on leaving the moment things go down te drain. he does not want to repeatthe same thing again.

visca el mister!

Yeah, Pep knows there is a shelf life to EVERYONE in Spanish football (especially). Even more so at Barcelona or Real Madrid. The club and fans move on, regardless of how successful the past was.

It's quite obvious this is how football works...
And that is why some players retire early... Because they know by age they won't be able to keep that level of play for much longer... And what happens when they lose that level?
People start talking... Rumors, gossips how messi is no longer the best, how he has gained 10 kg etc etc...
It's football.

i dont agree entirely on that..
Because this works differently with coaches.. player career is 15-20 years at most. if a coach starts young like Pep (or Villas-Boas, he is 33 FFS!) he can coach for 35 years ++ if he stays healthy..

Most players reach a peak, keep themselves in a plateau and then start losing form/consistency untill they retire..
there are exceptions of course and there are players that regenerate themsleves after changing enviroment or slightly altered their role in a team to copensate for the age, but to benefit from experience, vision (See giggs for example the last 3-4 years he is playing mostly as a CM)..

The thing about a coach is different. A coach can fail one year or more and still remain good. Building and maintaining a team is sometimes a long-term invenstement..
you can have a different coach every half season like Abramovic, but you dont know what a coach can do if you give him more time..
see ferguson.. He has made the process of decline - regeneration rebuild so routine...
the coach normally ends when his ideas are old-fashioned, out of time .. When he fails to adapt to how football has changed..
Take Capello.. the perfect example.. in the beggining of the 90's he was a pioneer in football discovering new ways, introducing new ideas..
Now he is finished.. He is still regarded in the top only because of his history, but the last 5-7 years you see that he is approaching the end.. He cannot adapt to how football is now..
