Pep has said numerous times he considers this to be a "season to suffer" for City

On the other hand Madrid still has their eyes on UCL

So unless this is a big margin win I'm not convinced City is going through. Even if they win by like 1 or 2 goals, saving the lead on Bernabeu won't be easy. Even 22 City couldn't do it, let alone this.
I agree. City needs a win today and most likely a big one.

"Weak side" on the bench with Gundgan, Foden, Marmoush, Doku, Kovacic. 200 million spent this winter.

Make no mistake. It's not the squad, it's pep. He is spent.

City transfer policy the last few years has been atrocious but Pep himself has become soft over time, back in the past he would have benched the likes of KDB or Bernardo and demanded proper replacements in those positions.

He will need to pull a genie out of the bottle, because let's be honest, those signings are not going to help him much, especially in the short term.

When that suddenly dawns on him, it would not surprise me if he decided to quit before the end of his contract.

He looked a beaten man today. Khusanov, Marmoush and Nico not living up to expectations will box him in to a corner, with no easy way out.

It's natural you become friends after a certain time. Look at Gundogan. He wanted back, called Pep, they met in a restaurant and after talking as friends, Pep took him back, although everyone can see he isn't helping them anymore.
Pep's in City longer than in Barca's first team and Bayern combined at this point. It was easy for him to replace players he didn't have an emotional connection with, now it's different and coming into age, most people get softer too. A mix I'd say.

He never had any rule about staying short term at City or a rule like that for his plans in management. always planned to stay for a lot longer than Barcelona and Bayern.

I still think Pep did bit of a favour to Barca taking Gundo. Same as signing Nico..

It was his way of paying back Barca when Barca needed help.

Not a deliberate favour but taking that wage of the books was indeed a big move for the club when could play a part in likes of Olmo arriving.

City are suffering from too many old legs and Barca no longer have to try and press with Lewa and Gundo. It is impossible.

I would normally say he is finished after seeing such a performance

But his squad is levels below average for this level and he is not exactly known for making the best out of terrible teams, rather making wonders with those who know how to play football

So maybe we shouldn't have expected more after Rodri injury either way
