Yes, because Ten Hag is a better manager than Ole. Better managers are going to make elite players play close to their true level. Mediocre ones less so.

But in the case of Xavi, he doesn't have any top class players that have proved themselves as elite, except for an old Lewa.

When you can't get back to your known level, or you get too old, which usually coincide if you are a true professional like the Madrid bunch are.

They still have good years left in them. Varane is not even 30 yet.

By your argument no one could have called Varane 'elite' before ETH came in as no one could have know if he could get him back to that level... which I dont think he is at that peak Real level anyway.

ETH got him back to playing close to his best level. But he has proven himself capable of that level for many years before ETH.

In comparison, Xavi can't make that impact for a Barca player because most are kids or too old. No elite player in this team that isn't 34. Simply lack that level of players. Have quite a few that could get there over the next 3-4 years.

Maybe Araujo, De Jong and Kounde could make the step the quickest.
