He hasnt regressed much at all, he has played very well most times he have started. He is class, simple as that. What did you expect him to do yesterday, him and nacho recieved no help from the midfield. No defender would look good yesterday.

Hermel talked about his situation in RM last night:

- Varane wants to be in the starting 11.
- He already expressed he might ask to be sold if he stays behind Ramos and Pepe.
- Flo asked him to be patient.
- Varane asks a lot, but this season so far Pepe and Ramos are better than him.
- Flo and other high ranked people in RM said there's no way they will sell him. He's like a mascot and everyone thinks he's the future best CB around.

I don't know what Hermel has been smoking, but Varane IMHO has been better than Ramos(And I'm one of the people in minority who kind of likes SR the player). Ramos is playing ahead of him because of seniority and his position in the dressing room.

Varane was good under Mourinho, if we buy him I feel he'll be great for us, and with Terry getting older and Cahill 30 this year as well as Iva 31, it's a good time to invest on a good young defender. With Zouma, Kalas and potentially Varane, CB could be locked down well for us.

I think maybe his performance yesterday clouded my judgement a little but he hasn't been the rock we saw last season and with Mou. Yesterday a lot of players were bad but he was just shockingly below his standard. Playing only when someone is hurt has him looking shell-shocked when it does come time to start for one of Pepe or Ramos. No wonder he looks below them right now.

The problem is also Carlo not rotating at all. With 3 CBs who can be qualifies as top 10, they should be playing almost equally. Sure maybe Pepe-Ramos can have the bigger games but I've seen them start against many minnows when Varane should have been starting so he can get some minutes.

Cesc was desperate to move back to London to his wife and kids and Arsene rejected him. I wouldn't take anything he says about Jose to face value.

If Varane goes to Chelsea, he gets a manager who respects him and a starting spot. It's an easy decision.

Varane is in the stage of his career where he will make more and more mistakes until he is about 24 or 25. The longer they play, the more pressure is exerted on him, the more tired he gets and the bigger the games get the more he will make mistakes, which is natural for defenders.

He is refining his skill and gaining experience, experiences will differ especially when formations change, the opposition changes, when the rest of the team flops, he will be more exposed. He has exceptional talent but he needs to keep cool. For his height and all, I feel he has poor upper body strength, kind of like Pique.
