Could see him retiring. Already won it all and doesn't seem really have the drive to keep playing like a Ramos or Puyol who both also won it all but played until mid/late 30s.

You almost want to say he never reached his full potential but his trophy cabinet says otherwise. Still imo, there is something super underwhelming about him.
He did reach his full potential, what's underwhelming is the fact that his prime lasted 3 or 4 years max.

That one game he played against Barca at 19 is still his best game ever

This fraud literally made a career out of that game

To be fair though he did look like prime Maldini in that game so it's not surprising

I remember that game and the talk that followed. People thought his development would be linear, but that was arguably close to his prime.

One would think a CB mature and develop with age and experience but not Varane.

The Bojan of defenders.

Honestly it's not all that uncommon for a player to look GOAT tier at 19 but then that turns out to be his peak and it's just downhill from there.

Better hope Yamal isn't another case.

One liner foul language posts are being deleted. And again, it's not so much about calling a player cunt as it's about combination of that plus nothing else in the post. Mods are deleting same stuff from newbies, and much to older members demand, so we expect the latter to live up to same standards.Thanx
Read this and did a double take

Then realised it was a post from 2012 and not current page

All is well

Good defender, but never thought he was anywhere near as good as he was made out to be. Ramos and Pepe were both far better.

He was good though. But no surprise to me that he struggled a fair bit at Man United. He was well in decline when he joined them.

He was brilliant when France won the World Cup, to be fair to him.
