Tom man you forget something Sporting also had a midweek game vs Mallorca in Copa del Rey.. so it's no excuse . it's all down to the Botia deal ;)
Good point

The Sporting manager behavior was ridiculous as i said Jose had a valid point
Did Jose complain when Barca rested multiple key-players against Hercules (because they had a midweek CL-game 3 days later), and as a result, lost the game? I don't think so.

The point is, that it's none of his business what other managers decide. Let him concentrate on his own team instead.

Tom, thank you :worthy:

The only people who make a huge deal out of Mourinho's comments are either half of Cules, Arsene Wenger, Ranieri and Benitez. Everyone around the globe couldn't careless and find his comments either funny or simply do not pay attention to them.

You can't be serious Raed. Have you seen what happened today? Even Iker had to pay for mourinho's antics(I totally disapprove the crowd throwing stuff towards him but that's what you get when your coach starts all these confrontations). And that's just to mention one example. Mourinho has made people react so badly because of his terrible attitude(remember what he did in San Siro couple weeks ago? doing a sign with his hand?). He has enemies all over and now he is dragging Madrid into that hatred. I repeat, Madrid will lose a lot more with him on the bench

I agree, before Mourinho Inter were actually a very respexted club, now they are so hated its so unreal. An even worse fate awaits for Real Madrid.

:
PD. Barcelona has more fans in Europe
That's because Barcelona has been consistently the best team in Europe for the past few years and has at least 2 of the top 5 players in the world. These same "fans" were probably Madrid fans during the galactico era.

Barcelona is very, very marketable to an international audience, but lets be honest here, there are exceptions (like most of us), but for most of these international fans Barca is their second team only because they like watching this current generation.

Mourinho is a brilliant troll but Chelsea's international fanbase exploded under his reign and Inter was a reviled team even before he took over.

 55%?

sport+markt(leading comapany in research and investigation) said that madrid has 6,8 millions of fans in Spain (39%) and Barcelona has 5,5 (29%) There is a big margin for antimadridismo that is clearly growing in Spain, just check what happened today on the pitch. PURE HATE

PD. Barcelona has more fans in Europe

The Sport markt study was more about the popularity in Europe which Barca lead due to the timing of the study which helped , the study i'm talking about as reference was conducted by Don Balon (i'm not 100 % sure ) but it was a local not an Int cause the result even had Valencia as the third most supported and not like Sport markt which only included the 20 biggest European clubs
I think several universities in Spain has done the same job (including Barcelona's ) and the results are the same
The leading part is their marketing trick ;)

I think I remember bringing up these same studies another time and you rejecting them because you were trying to argue with me that Patetico has more fans than Valencia..but maybe I'm thinking of someone else.

The studies are fairly consistent though

While studies are flawed they do point out general trends...yes Madrid is by far the most popular club in Spain, followed by Barcelona and then far behind Valencia.

Outside of Catalonia and the Basque Country the overwhelming majority of Spaniards are Madrid fans, in fact in towns where there is no notable La Liga club the general trend is for everyone to be a fan of Real and the local club.

In central Spain most people HATE Barca, they consider it a club for people who hate their country. Besides Catalonia and to an extent the Basque Country, Barca is popular in places with strong regional pride like Valencia, Asturias, Galicia and Aragon but even then you will find as many Madrid fans and Barca haters as Barca fans. In Castile typically the only cules are those from towns where a Barca legend is from; such as Zapatero because Cesar Rodriguez was from Leon...

Using today as an explain is a fail because Sporting has a close relationship with Barcelona.

Perfect post .. i'll just add to the last sentence "And Real Madrid close ties with Gijon hate figure after Oviedo = Racing Santander "

Whatever the studies show, we can all agree on one thing, there is a massive gap between the fanbases of Real and Barca and the rest.

He can bring more fans, the usual glory-hunters, but he brings hate as well. Let's be real, we have no idea how he is behind cameras, but the image he shows is not an example for anybody, winning at any cost is what he is all about. Many times overstepping the limits of respect

It was about who is the biggest third club not the biggest fan base if i remember correctly

Yeah, that's part of it..Racing fans tend to be as pro-Madrid and anti-Barca as Sporting fans are pro-Barca and anti-Madrid...there's a lot of clubs in Spain with close ties to one or the other, really the only fanbase that probably hates both equally is Valencia...

The thing is anyone who would have been alienated by Mourinho would have already been alienated by Madrid's "win at all costs" mentality over the past few years plus the terrible PR of the late galatico era and Calderon administration..Nobody is a Real Madrid fan for "moral victories" to begin with.

Rick the same glory hunters are the same people you have now.. they will change to the next successful club (as some here already said when they aligned themselves just with the beautiful game not the club itself )

Even though the studies show Barca superiority in Europe Real Madrid is still globally second behind United (Harvard study ) even before Jose took over so no we are not worried
and i believe he is great behind the cameras .. judging from all the players he coached personal loyalty to him and prominent figures like SAF who both call each other close friends despite the rivalry .
anything Jose does in front of the cameras is only to divert attention and pressure of his players.. anyone would be a fool to give notice for his words but he somehow successfully manage to do that with Barca (and other teams ) for several years now but come one don't tell me you don't know that & believe all he say , do you ?

i'm not saying "moral victories" bring fans to Madrid. i'm going the other way, people who are fans of other clubs and would be indifferent to madrid, now dislike a club that has person like mourinho as a coach

Personally I'm fine with Madrid having the glory hunters...I'm sick of seeing so many people in the US who wear a Barca jersey and never watched a football match in their life...they should stick to "supporting" English clubs.

Very few people are indifferent to Madrid though..they are the most successful club in Europe and the biggest spender, most neutrals already hated them...it's like the Yankees in America, you are either a fan or you hate them.
