unlike at that time, we do have a like for like replacement who is good enough in lass... and i think that he is the better option, so diarra wont like being a backup...
but at this moment in time i wouldnt want him to go... rather the rest of the central midfielders (gago, guti, vdv) go than him...

do agree somewhat with that... would rather keep mamadou than have him leave... but he doesnt have makalele's brain tho... he makes up for it with his physicality, but no one has makalele's brain...

In the clasico madrid won 1-0 at Camp Nou a couple of seasons ago M. Diarra ran the show in midfield, we couldn't get anything going because of the bastard. He couldn't pass the ball to another white shirt but he stopped the blaugrana shirts finding each other and that's what made the difference.

he doesn't attack and is a defensive specialist. this isn't sexy enough for satan.
lass can play, which means he's a much more attractive proposition to satan, even though he's about half the DM that djila is (who very much has makelele's brain, watch him play, he's fucking magnificent - the double you did over us in 07/08 was basically down to him totally fucking our shit up in midfield).

thats exactly it... against the smaller sides lass is better because of ball retention... if he dont play you lose some edge in those encounters but are safer in the bigger ones thanks to mamadou...

But surely as Real Madrid you kinda need somebody who can do it on the big stage, unless more CL 2nd round exits are the extent of your ambitions.

he sold him cuz of he wanted to live like a normal footballer, but perez doesnt consider (or considered, if you believe some ppl) defensive players to be normal...
maka was very good at interncepting the ball and reading the game... djila isnt that quick in his head, but if he gets close to someone he is gonna screw them up bad... he is quicker and stronger than maka, but not the same brain... especially when in posession of the ball
i'd be happy with a qtr final next year... as some ppl might know, if you are a pessimist, you are rarely disappointed
... plus if you have something like the 06/07 season then you jizz yourself at the end of every madrid game... so this is the way to live ... e.g. gio is 35 but he has the opinions of an 80 year old woman with no teeth...

I still think Gago could amount to something, but probably not with Madrid. I have a feeling he would do very well in Serie A.
