Well, it's not as if we have any squad depth. Koeman has been thrust into the worst possible situation. A bunch of old players, no money for new ones and a dysfunctional board.

I don't think squad depth is really that bad. Surely we could use a better quality in all lines (and we might still get some players) but it's more a question if remaining starters will perform better in a different system and what newcomers and players given their 2nd/3rd chance can do. I'm not expecting wonders but at the same time I'm actually quite looking forward to see how FDJ will play in his best position, how Fati and Puig will progress and what Pedri (if he stays), Trincao and Araujo can offer to the team.

Hard to tell how would this work because we lacked basic football things like stamina, movement and dynamic...but if that is fixed then this setup can be deadly as it can change position fast, for example, Ansu moves left, Dembele right, Messi in the middle and Griez becomes nr. 9.
But I'm not sold with Pjanic-FDJ duo in the middle, compatibility issues.

That defence hurts my eyes.
Messi should play centrally. Doubt he has the legs to play wide.Not sold on Pjanic-FDJ either. Both are not the fastest. I would pair Frenkie with a more explosive player.
