he may not be best tackler, he may not be beast like Yaya (he plays AM in City.... lol) but he has something called brain, I know every footballer has it but not much of them use him

Let me just sum up what I (and most cules) think of Busquets.

I can understand if people hate him for his theatrics but I don't understand for 1 second when people question his footballing abilities and whether he is suitable for us. You only have to look at his achievements, he is only 22 and has won every trophy possible (WC multiple ligas, UCL, copa...) In the world cup in particular he was fantastic for spain, and he has been a regular for us for 3 years now, pep wouldn't have promoted him from barca b (he wasn't even in barca b i think) to regular starter overnight for no reason. He's one of the most intelligent footballers in the world if you ask me. His drawing fouls and sometimes play acting is part of his game, but hey when you play a dirty team (cough*mourinho*cough) you need players like him otherwise your opponent will get away with murder. I mean he doesn't play act against every opponent every week now does he? but he does act and go down easily when he plays mourinho teams (Inter, Real...) so to highlight to the referee that the opposition is out to kick and slap you.... As for him becoming the best DM in the world sometime soon, well he is one of the best DM's in the world right now so...

Personally I love him.

I'll talk about Newcastle player all I want if I the debate is whether Busquets will be the best DM in the world. I believe that title will belong to Tiote soon, not Busquets.

Busquets is not the best DM in the world right now. that belongs to Yaya Toure, who does everything Busquets does and creates and scores goals on top of that.

As for Busquets tackling, that needs to improve considerably. He's great at reading game at making interceptions, that is probably the strongest part of his game. and he still gives away the ball when he tries to be cute doing little flicks and backheels instead of keeping it simple.

Titoe will be better than both if he isn't already.

and no I don't love busquets, his play acting has crept back into his play. someone putting their hand on your shoulder/chest and getting away with it is not gettng away with Murder and does not justify dropping to the floor and grabbing your face. Fair enough if it is a clear foul, you can make sure the referee notices it by going down, but not the pathetic stuff Busquets does.

And of course there is this whole monkey business with Busquets and Marcelo. It LOOKS LIKE HE MIGHT HAVE SAID IT althought not 100% certain, lets not hide from that fact. And lets not hide from the fact that he has not publicly denied the serious claims that dirty his name and that of FC Barcelona. Usually if a player is accused of Racism they defend themselves publicky against the claims. Add to the fact that he kept a sheepishly low profile in the next game after the allegations were made. Those actions suggest to me that it could well be true what he is alleged to have called Marcelo.

No he doesn't he plays an attacking creative role! Doesn't mean he still doesn't help defend or make tackles and interceptions in the midfield does it!

my head exploded when I read that post.

I've managed to put it back together again.

Badger is probably the best sweeper/tackler/destroyer DM in the world. Busquets is a more all-around DM. not as much of a defensive specialist but he's Makelele-level when it comes to starting the play unnoticed. plus he's a streetwise dirty bastard, which every squad (especially ours) needs to have.

This is terrible publicity. I don't really see how they can prove it based upon the evidence we have all seen. Should he be proven guilty, however, the ban is deserved.

UEFA has opened disciplinary proceedings against FC Barcelona midfielder Sergio Busquets, who is alleged to have violated Article 11 bis of the UEFA Disciplinary Regulations by directing racist abuse towards a Real Madrid CF player in the UEFA Champions League semi-final first leg between the clubs on 27 April.

The proceedings have been launched on the basis of evidence provided by Real Madrid (video and statement of club and player). The UEFA Control and Disciplinary Body will deal with the case on Sunday 15 May and the decision will be communicated to the club on Monday 16 May.

Correct on both counts really...IF, and that's a massive IF, it can be proven he said something racist, by all means, punish away.

However, how on earth do you prove such a thing anyway?...As I've said before, it's interesting how curiously silent Marcelo has been on the topic...I've never read a quote on what he even perceived to be said by Sergio...Makes me think the whole thing is bollocks, tbh

Edit:...Upon further review, looks like the UEFA investigation includes not only testimony from Real Madrid but the player who claims the racist insults were directed at, presumably Marcelo...He has a statement attesting to the racist comment?...Curious why we've heard zero word from him before

Uefa dismissed the allegations at first. Only with this appeal by Real have Uefa opened the investigation. So I ask, what has changed regarding viable evidence? Aside from dragging the club's image through further mud (unless there is new evidence) I don't see what can be done.


I guess this will mean Barca have to take a formal stance? Either deny or admit to guilt?
