I know nothing of this player. Are we buying him to be starting lb? is he good enough fir the starting spot, is he an upgrade? What about digne and alba? Help me fellow internauts.

He's very talented and he's only 19 years old.

But I do have a feeling if we are buying him he would be a replacement for Mathieu, He certainly has the skill set and height to play as a LCB as well. We have been following him for awhile now and even considered buying him last summer but we got Digne instead.

Mathieu has been mostly a CB unless we had to choose to play him or Adriano as LB. Theo seem more of a true LB that have played CB from time to time.
I have high doubts we are going for a coach that plays 3-4-3 (may be we are going after Allegri?) which so I don't think it is for LCB. Although that is the most logical explanation for his signing.
I am starting to have my doubts over Digne & Alba situation. Feel that we might be willing to let go for one of them

I watched a highlight video

He looks explosive
But more the kind of player who would take the ball and run with it from one half to another until it goes out of play, no good passes, link up, no crossing, just running with the ball

His agent confirmed he has two offers from Barca and Real Madrid, but that he hasn't decided anything yet.

Think it's Digne who will leave.

Then it'll be a baptism by fire at the LB position next season. Can see Theo getting minutes at CB too, if he accepts our offer, of course.

You mean if we offloaded Alba and brought him?

Both will be given a chance to make that position their own, or become the first choice. First time Alba might have a competition where he can get toppled. Should light a fire under his ass. Hope he improves his attacking contribution and by that I especially mean crossing.
