you clearly haven't seen him properly then....i watched him every game for the past few seasons & if you don't rate him then i don't really know what to say to you.

This guy cost over twice as much as Ibrahimovic/the most fee paid for a defender ever.

He is an excellent reader of the game which is one of his strongest points, he cuts it out before it even starts, i can't tell you how many times i've seen him do it over the years, he also had to put up with Milans incompetent fullbacks & a shoddy partner as Nesta was always injured & still look the tits.

Once in a bluemoon when he makes a mistake he can make up for it as he is a speed demon, can play in both high line/deep, as complete as you'll see esp. with the poor quality of defenders around these days.

He isn't the captain of Brazil/the most expensive defender ever for being overrated that's for sure.

Thiago Silva was amazing for Milan, he had a rough first couple of games when they first signed him but after that he was what held that defense together. Honestly he was one of the main reasons they were even a contender for the Serie A title b/c their fullbacks were terrible and Nesta was always injured...him being fantastic is the only plausible reason why that defense survived, period.

Think of him as a sweeper, the type of player that you rely on to clean things up and all the while a solid, reliable defender.

Not to mention he's great on the ball and a good passer. I've watched both plenty of Silva and Hummels, and Hummels is average compared to him.

I do not rate Hummels myself. However, Silva's performance in the Olympics was rather underwhelming.

Silva is as complete defender as there is around.
