I think people have to let go from the "replacing xavi" thing.
No one will. Not even Thiago. The way Barça plays will have to change.

Maybe Pep is doing Barca a favour by courting Thiago as he knows that Rosell will do anything to spite Pep and this is Pep's way of ensuring Thiago stays at Barca.

#Pepception

I think it was part of a deal. Bayern offered Pep a deal; Pep said he'd leave Barça and talk to Rosell about offering Tito his position... only if he could take 1 player with him to Bayern. This player being Thiago. Now Tito fulfilled his part of the deal by not playing Thiago and thus dropping his clause to €18M for Pep. It all makes sense now.

Nobody said he will be exactly how Xavi was, when we are talking about a replacement for Xavi we mean a replacement for the CM role.Xavi is a unique player..but we gotta accept that sometime he will stop. And surely if Gundogan comes he wont get the same respect as Xavi does or getting it from the start here. But he seems to have the qualities to be an option for midfield

Wasn't the whole idea behind thiago's development was to fill the holes left by xavi. Xavi is composed, but lack aggression (As far as i remember the old discussions). SO thiago was the solution: someone with composure (he proved that already), and with the flair & aggression. Ability to strike from distance, and with willingness to do so, without skyrocking 90% of the shots. So it was really about "replacing xavi", but not reproducing xavi.

willingness to strike from distance is scorned upon in barca.

and anyone replacing xavi has had to have at least a couple of seasons in barca to prepare. cant just simply buy gundogan and put him in that role. so it has to be one of the other 4 midfielders we already have (not counting roberto who obviously will not be that player and samper who is far too young yet).

The funniest thing about this (other than us all freaking out) is that Thiago have not expressed anything about this issue at all.

Yep. And despite this very important fact, he's either "unhappy", "disillusioned", "leaving" or "already gone". I guess many posters are part of his inner circle.

CLose but Master plan
1. Get rid of Cruff as honary president
2. Get shirt sponsors, and change history of no-shirt sponsorships
3. Get back the power to president level,(get rid off PEP and laporta's legacy)
3. Black & white prints to save cost for Neymar's signing
4. Neymar to compete with messi (Super plan to sell messi)
4. Get other brazillians too
5. Punish thiago for chosing spain instead of brazil
6. Good People would understand
7. Get all the numbers wrong.

This makes sense. I can't believe I didn't see those #facts.

Barcelona midfielder Thiago (22) is close to joining Bayern Munich. Barcelona want the transfer fee for the player to be 22M. [sport]
