There are 2 ways this could be seen:
1. (Most optimistic) Tito thinks Mazinho is just doing this to get a better contract and is playing hardball to not have to give in to the demands. This doesn't seem as likely now that Guardiola confirmed interest. Maybe just trying to hold it out until August 3 (buyout returns to 90m).
2. (Most realistic) They don't care.

It's #2

Wenger and Arsenal are at least trying to keep the players who are about to leave, we're acting like it's not a big deal with Thiago. Well, it's GOING TO BE a big deal soon or later, they will see.

If you beleive conspiracies then we already have first option on Oliver Torres, who's the closest thing to a Xavi replacement out there, explaining David Villa's low transfer fee (that's probably because he has a high wage though). So we're not too bothered about Thiago.

Or there's the other theory that thiago is pulling a Rooney move and we're assuming he bluffing for a new contract, his father is evil enough for this to be realistic.

Or he's a total moron and want guaranteed playing time ahead of Xavi, cesc and iniesta and to round it off thinks going to bayerns packed midfield will mean he'll get more playing time

If he really wants a new contract, just give it to him.

Btw, Xavi's declining and hasn't been amazing last season, at least compared to how he used to be. And Thiago's the only other one who can play in that role. Plus, Cesc hasn't been in great form last season (particularly the second half of the season) either. So he's not a moron for wanting guaranteed playing time and can most certainly get it. Doesn't mean he needs to be a starter, but he deserves better treatment and more minutes than what he got.

You can't be pushed around like that. Players need to know that they are not in charge.

Also for the second part... He can learn patience, like iniesta and Xavi before him.

Xavi was still better than Thiago last season.

Thiago has never really yet proved he can play the Xavi role anyway. He takes too many risks and gives away the ball in dangerous areas. The idea that he could replace Xavi is there because of his passing and movement but he still had a lot to prove.

You keep going back to this 'more minutes' argument but you miss the point. More minutes may have got the higher buy out clause but playing him in meaningless games to make that happen would not have made him happy.

Better than him leaving. Just sayin.

Barca is a huge club and there are always going to be young talents out there. We are lucky to be able to let thiago go and be able to find another great youngster quite easily. It's not as if thiago is our only hope for a good midfield in the future.

What can't change is our attitude towards the players and the boundaries we set on them. All the top clubs should have the mentality that youngsters are expendable if they have the wrong attitude. This is all assuming he does want a new contract though, it's all speculation.

What a terrible few days, thiago mia to bayern, and now our midfield getting overrun by singha all stars. Lost for words.

You really need refreshment in the midfield..you cant go on with Anderson and Phil Jones playing there

Barca should not beg players to stay, this is the greatest club in the world we are talking about. If Thiago wants to leave let him, the club will find somebody as good if not better. He has a bad attitude and wants everything now on a plate. If he were patient everything he wants would come to him at Camp Nou, to throw that all away and risk it by short term thinking is unbelievable. He will have more problems in Munich than at Barca, atleast he has played the system in Spain since he was a boy.

Thiago is really getting underrated on this forum. Can't believe how some of you can say that he's not that good and that it will be easy to find someone better. That's just ridiculous. He looked way better than Xavi and Cesc last season, but I guess some of you are just so mad that he's leaving and can't admit that.

He didn't look way better than Xavi, and he wasn't better than Cesc at all. He's still getting massively underrated (mostly because everyone thinks he's leaving ) but he wasn't that good last season either.

Sources say tonight we will know for sure wether Thiago leaves, prefers 1 more year at blaugrana. Let's get this over with, so #preseason can begin #fcblive #fcb #StayThiago
