Not sure what Thiago sees for himself at Bayern, but...

Yeah, unless Bayern sells, he's still not going to start all that often unless Pep plans to rotate a lot. Midfield and front line is stacked: Schwein, Muller, Madzukic, Robben, Ribery, Goetze, Kroos, Martinez, Shaquiri, Thiago. 10 players for 6 positions. For the future, though, he's going to move up, as Schwein, Robben, and Ribery will all age out. Goetze-Thiago-Martinez-Kroos = Iniesta/Xavi/Busi 2.0.

I expect to see Thiago in a more attacking role at Bayern.

If Xavi and Iniesta can keep fit next season, I wouldn't even notice Thiago's absence.

For the future though, it definitely seems like a missed opportunity - hopefully we will remedy the situation in the next few seasons.

Im so sad. Always visioned Thiago being our future, leading us to glory and retiring here, writing his name in the Barca history. It will take some time before i get. Im so sad that i dont even want to argue with Tito and Rosell supporters anymore.

He's also choked in a CL and WC final and is consistently unreliable because of form and fitness. When he's playing, he does well but Bayern have not truly 'needed' him especially this season where he was only starting because of the injury to Kroos. There is no dependence on Robben at Bayern and replacing him from the starting lineup in the future will be a piece of cake, especially considering that they've already done it and now he's even farther back in the pecking order with Gotze there. Ribery on the other hand they might find some difficulty replacing but even then they won't have a major drop in quality as a team without him.

Yeah Bayern have not needed a player this seaosn that scored home and away to Barca and was MOTM in a CL final scoring and assisiting.

Song is box-to-box, can play in every position in the midfield, but Fabregas is similar to Xavi. IMO, they are both great players, and they get along well too. I will be fine even with Busi-Song-Cesc.

Song can add some muscle to our midfield. I thought he looked impressive in our midfield. He looked terrible as a CB though.

Cesc is a world class midfielder. Maybe the extra playing time and resting of Xavi will allow him to impose his style on the midfield now.

Thiago was "groomed" to be Xavi's successor, but Pep just had to bring back a somewhat inferior and unnecessary transfer in the person of Cesc and then leave the club just after doing that. . . . Taking Thiago with him. Makes sense right? Well done Pep, well done!
