There's nothing logical about that, actually. And hating Thiago surely has nothing to do with being passionate about Barça. He didn't hurt the club by leaving, but actually helped rosell to fund Ney Sr's money.

You think it's not logical to love football more than Barca? Being a Barca fan means supporting the club above all other clubs, not above the sport itself. That's logical.

Barca made Thiago the player he is. Leaving at the first tough moment is a failed test of character. It speaks about a lack of loyalty towards the club that put you on the football map.

I didn't speak about logic. It is also logic to move to a better club in order to win more. What Figo did was logical in terms of his career. He went to RM and he won the Champions League. He was still a traitor. So is Thiago. So, you can be logical and also a traitor, these two elements don't exclude each other, nor are they contradictory.
It wasn't the 1st tough moment. Thiago had offers from other teams since his b team days. And still comparing him to Figo, lel. Figo was the captain, an icon, legend. Barça under gaspart was a mess. Figo also lied, denied the move to move later anyway. And to real madrid, not to another country.

I don't know about this argument. The Cule in me wants to hate him but the human in me understands why he left. He needed minutes Tito wasn't giving him. Its hard to get mad at the kid who was thinking about his career. Not everyone is willing to wait 2-3 yrs on the bench like Bartra for chances.

Barca dont 'make players' what they are today. There are a whole host of reasons players make it such as their own skill and dedication.

It wasnt Thiagos 'first' chance to leave he could have left earlier if he wanted.

Thiago going from a sub midfielder to starter and important player at the current European Champions and getting more money is not logical in terms of his career?

You need to get some perspective I think.

It's just easier to blame Thiago, Pep or Bayern than it is to blame the multiple mistakes the club made handling that entire situation.

Figo may have been a captain, an icon, a legend. But he also was a transfer. A Sporting Club de Portugal player, where he played 11 years. Not a Barca raised player, like Thiago is. Not trough La Masia, not learning since 14 years old what Barca is. So, there's more sides to that coin.

No, I don't. I don't care much for football, except for Barça. If the Barça football team ceased to exist, I wouldn't follow another.

Again you dont have perspective.

Barca are not some kind of cult.

The vast majority of players, if not all, will do what is best for their careers above anything else.

It is logical. So was Figo's move. Figo's move was slammed not because of lack of reason (hell, RM was the top team then, much better than Barca), but because it was cinic. So is Thiago's move.

Please, of course the player contributes as well, but the club is very very important, providing the platform for the player to show his potential and build on it each step at the time. The club does that in the hope that the player will achieve success at the club and later repay the investment.

Barcelona raised Thiago, and Bayern is benefiting from it now. They do that in Bundesliga all the time, and did in the past (check how many of their legends were actually raised at the club). And they did it to us as well.

Bayern were clever, Thiago was a traitor and a quitter, and Barca was reckless.

You really need to make up your mind about your arguments. Earlier today Thiago was nothing to Barça, even Cuenca had more importance. Now, he's a Barça raised player, and there's a lot of more sides, so you can compare him to Figo... seriously.

Totally different situations.

One was the teams best player, captain who said would never move to Real Madrid. Whether it was a good career choice or not those moves are treated as a slap in the face.

The other was a young player not a first team starter who moved abroad. A player who always made it clear his dream was to be a footballer ahead of a Barca player.

You seem to agree that Thiagos move was a good career choice though so at least we are making progress.

Not contradictory. Barca invested a lot in Thiago. When Thiago should have repayed the investment, he bailed out.

No, he didn't. Have you read Pep's book? Unless you're going to say Pep is a liar, it's written there pretty clearly that Thiago was put on for sale. And yes, you're completely contradicting yourself. Why would such an insignificant player(as you said he was) wanting to leave bother you? Like Freixa said, they got 25m for a substitute, and could then pay Neymar Sr. Excellent business.
Are you mad with cesc too, who said to the press he wanted to leave? You think alexis asked to leave, or that he was sold to bring suarez? It's funny how only Thiago gets all the hate.

I think what needs to be clarified is that players who are active in this business perceive football different than fans do.
The choice of some fan, which club he supports or wether he changes a club has no real outcome on his life, football is just passionate entertainment.
But for players, this is their job, football is a business, at the moment where they enter the big stage, football inherits their whole life. Decisions like switching a club, are affecting their whole career and their career is what they define themselves on. Everyone tries to achieve as much as possible because this means a better life. If a player has the feeling that he is getting stuck at some point, then he might come to the conclusion that leaving might be the right step.
He might have been just as much of a barca fan like all of you here, but he has to prioritize his own life over the club. We as fans are in no position to judge players, those are just humans who try to perceive a career.
The ideals that fans apply on players, are always biased in favour of the club. They demand players to take the club over their own life, but 99% of them, wouldnt do so in similar situations.

You agreed that Thiagos move was good career wise at the time.

So now you are saying any player that has seen a club 'invest a lot in them' but leaves is a traitor?

By that measure half the Barca team are 'traitors' and almost all the top players in the world that have made moves.

Alba - Valencia save his career = Traitor
Alves - Sevilla turned round his career = traitor
Rakitic - Sevilla gave him platform to perform = traitor
Neymar - traitor
Suarez - traitor
And it goes on.
