It's not just learning new languages. It's also about "fitting" into a club like Barça and being "homesick" or not. Hummels would miss all is German pals at Dortmund.

Honestly, Youngie, in times of Skype, WhatsApp and national team call-ups, I doubt he would be THAT homesick. Besides, the awe to play at a club like Barca and trying to settle in, etc would mask that. And if he has his finacé with him, he should be fine. He is not a primary school-boy.

I can see your point, kind of, but as far as I know neither Khedira nor Özil had any trouble settling into Real, so I doubt that someone like Hummels, whose ego is much bigger than either of the aforementioned, would have trouble with settling in at Barcelona.

It's the mentality and his playing style that I am worried about.

And Hummels has his fiancé, so he is not alone, as well as his father who is his advisor and would surely go to Barcelona with him, just like Özil's father did.

And do you really think that the Barca-players would not make him feel welcome? ;)

This is nonsense, Youngie. Hummels is a grow man, he can miss his friends, but that won't make him play badly, or flop. Or Cesc would've flopped badly at arsenal, as he left much younger, and is harder for a teen to be away from his home town, relatives and friends.

Exactly. Besides, if you're a grown man & being homesick would affect you that much, you probably have no business moving or playing abroad in the first place.

Dunno really.

Did I say "missing his friends" would make Hummels play badly or flop? Nope.

Players do get homesick you know (i.e. Balotelli, Tevez, Navas, Jose Reyes, Drogba, Ian Rush etc etc). All men and professionals. It happens

You could also say Cesc & even C Ronaldo got homesick..
