some english pundits came with that bullshit a couple years ago and then he went into a slump while messi destroyed everything in his path. rooney's having a great year so far but he's got to show some kind of consistency for an entire season before he's mentioned alongside messi.

So Rooney has just played shit against Benfica and Chelsea,Wow what a coincidence as soon as he plays against two good teams in form he plays shit!
And am not just saying that coz of the penalty but his all round game was poor,kept losing the ball,tripping over the ball when he tries to dribble,missed a sitter with left foot and should have assisted Berb with a better pass.
He's only scored more than 20 league goals in one season,that's his big problem consistency.

He has been a bit too inconsistent, but I dissagree with his goal scoring beeing a big problem. He does a lot of playmaking, almost Ibra-deep at times, and a lot of those wont even register as assists. I dont know how many times per season he finds a perfect cross sideways to open up for an attack.

What?! He was awful! His lack of positional discipline made Ferguson furios. His lucky punch offside goal doesn't make it a good performance.
Not saying that he isn't a very good player though (best in England probably, although that doesn't say much since Mata is a god there now).
