Pen is clear, don't know how you can say that is not a pen. Keeper goes out of his goal to block a shot with arms and legs out and takes down the player instead. Clear as day.

If Alvarez was more experienced, he tries to round the keeper and then it's a pen and red and game over right then and there.

It wouldnt be a red.

They haven't met Spain England Portugal Germany France yet

That's many teams buddy

They have beaten Italy and Brazil in finals, but weren't WC games
I am not sure the Brazil ARgentina Copa final would have been repeated in a semi final today had Brazil eliminated Croatia for example

Haha Spain and Germany could only beat Costa Rica that is why didnt meet them.

That is not what 'top teams' achieve.

Stop speaking shite as usual.

In your world Japan is better than Croatia and Netherlands.

Utter numpty.

How you can say "takes him down" is beyond me

He tries to get the ball, doesn't hit it, then Alvarez storms onto him.

It's as if you stumble onto a rock and say that the rock hit you. No, you hit the rock

Now, this might be deemed a pen according to the current directives. Couldn't care less. This should never be a pen

I mentioned it in match chat. In TV studio Dimitar Berbatov, Martin Petrov and Krasimir Balakov, all of whom rooted for Croatia, said it's a penalty. There's a foul on Alvarez while the ball is still rolling towards the goal.

This country conspiracy logic wasn't applied 4 years ago during Croatia - England 1/2 final. A final France - England would have shot ratings up the roof and fill the bank accounts of FIFA.

Argentina were better in this match, they played Croatia's counter-attacking game which left a lot of open space in the Croat defensive line. We talked about Dalic being the better tactician before the game, but Scaloni changed approach and prepared well for this game. Croatia were clearly uncomfortable creating chances from possesion of the ball.

He tries to get the ball and moves towards Alvarez. He doesn't stand still and rushes out to block the ball.

Of course Alvarez goes into him, he plays the ball. The keeper goes out, and in this case, he either gets the ball, or the player, in which case it's a pen if the ball is still in play which it was.

Lol, if the keeper is a rock why does he end up right near the 11m spot? He should be in his 6m box.

Let's make it very simple:

He rushed out to block the ball at T1

He missed the ball at T2, when the was stationary and not moving forward towards Alvarez any more

Alvarez continued his movement, and made contact with him at T3

That should never be a pen
It's important not only whether there is contact, but who initiates the contact, who moves towards the other

Don't see why this is not what happened

Explained it above in time sequences

Alvarez plays ball around him, keeper missed. Keeper intentionally or onintentially moves right/or sticks out leg to obstruct Alvarez. His leg catches him.
