Its not really my ideological point of view, it is that I believe the sample is tiny. If you looked at the season as a whole I would agree, but CL and EL are just a couple of games per season.

Again though, I agree with using it as a tool, it is much better than a lottery. But I dont agree with using it to actually "rate" teams, a qualitative measure would do so much better. That I suppose though, is in line with my general view of methodology. I find it is often pretty awesome to make qualitative judgement and keep an eye on quantitative figures, rather than go the other way.

It was stupid joke started in twitter.

Messi 11-12 14/73, 12-13 2/30 = 16/103 16%
Penalmovic 11-12 12/35, 12-13 2/15 = 14/50 28%

Even Ibra wouldn't make that stupid comment.

You actually believe he said that? So many rumored quotes floating around that ibra supposedly said this and that to journalists before and they are always proved to be false and origin from some weird journalists twitter accounts that noone ever heard of before..

Ibra can say some funny shit thats true but jeez..

The Ibra comment on Leo breaking the record was apparently meant in some form of jest (In Zlatan's head, apparently)...He later apologized/clarified via twitter as well

If only his brain matched his ego & talent, that would be something

He is said to be pretty smart actually. But maybe not that socialy clever/normal; his grew up in a different environment from most of us. Says a lot of weird things (though often insanely funny).

But what can possibly be the ground for this "qualitative judgement" of yours? Surely it must be mainly quantitative.

And the CL and EL are not a couple of games a season. For example, Spanish, English and German leagues send 7 teams to Europe each and every season. That means 7x6 games at least + qualifiers = 42 games + a few qualifiers + whatever you get to do in the KO rounds. Over 5 seasons, that translates into way more than 200 games, approaching essentially 300 games. That is a massive empirical base on which to ground "rating of teams and leagues" Clear as daylight really.
