21 - Frenkie de Jong

Don't say anything, it's just typical de jong fans hyperbole, we've seen this story before..

just let them have this one, he has genuinely good game for real though.

But he didn't charge the game, the sub taking fermin off pushing Pedri up, changed the game, it helped that he is very good and retaining the ball.

If olmo was fit, he would have been the first sub and the result would have been the same, the key is fermin isn't a ball retention type of player.

And the pass to balde was good, but not some insane pass.

But he's fit and offers us something different so I'm glad he's available.
Agree, taking Fermin off and pushing Pedri up was a game changer. Nothing against Fermin but he can't match Pedri's ball holding under pressure and that's fine he has other qualities. Good that he's back, hope he can stay fit and I'm curious how Flick's starting eleven would look like when De Jong, Gavi and Olmo are 100% match fit in the coming week(s). Looking forward to play real back with full strength squad at ''home''.

...a lot of childishness on this forum

How about you enjoy options all the players bring to the team and move on. The contract situation will sort itself out. The players are out there enjoying themselves while some are here shooting up their vitals over who is better or who should be sold and for how much, even after a win at Madrid.

It's ridiculous to read all the crap about "de Jong fanboys".
It is the truth that he was our best midfielder for some time, it is also the truth that he had some poor to average games and that it was expected from him to reach a level more than he did. Maybe he will, still has a lot of time. Look at Modric's career.

Almost everyone criticized Pedri during his pretty long spell of injuries and playing bad, myself included. And this season he is probably the best midfielder in the world.

Give him some time and we'll see what happens.

Yeah it was directed to the Girona goalkeeper. I agree with you.

Players go for good fees with a year left these days. Only thing that will hinder Frenkie is his huge wage compared to a Merino. So I expect he will either go for free or we renew with a much lower buyout like Dembele.

Difference now though is we have more leverage with finances thankfully.
But he's on his last year making 25M - nobody else will offer even close to that. Reality check will come for him and his agent - meanwhile we can pay him like 10M from the transfer fee we get to balance out his wage for his last year of the contract. IF he decides he wants to walk for free, we should set an example and put him in the freezer - don't even register him than next season. I said in another post - if one of Inter, Liverpool, Milan, Juventus, Arsenal, United, Chelsea, City etc offer us like 40-50M and him a contract of about 10-15M a year and he doesn't accept (even if we compensate him for his "loss" in his last time year) than we know he's just out to fuck us over and two can play that game...

This shit always makes me laugh. The kid commits a ton of fouls, isn't disciplined with his pressing but acts like a tough guy and shows how much he loves the club and people eat it up.

I always want players to have heart and be committed like him, but he has no real outstanding qualities outside that love and effort when compared to our other options. A great, reliable squad player, yes. Not the guy you want starting over our other players in the CL final or classico though.

Sure, now talk about Frenkies winning qualities. He can hold the ball too long. Sure.

And he can do cardio.

Gavis pinkie has more character than Frenkies whole body. Character matters in sports.

Paying someone 25m and freezing him out of the team in order to hurt him sounds like a very dumb financial idea. For a club nearing bankruptcy, its suicidal and worth facing the firing squad for.

Some of you guys should never even get close to managing the finances at home.

This Gavi character meme is as baseless and cringe as other people dying on Frenkie the best midfielder hill. Both of them have been subpar in comparison to how current Pedri/Casado duo are performing recently. Gavi more so as has been mostly invisible since his break out season. Bull rushing brainlessly, getting stupid yellows and playing headers on the ground wont cut it, if you're out of the game for most time.
Remains to be seen who will have more impact. Believe Flick should get both of them to new level.

Or you should get your head out of your ass. What good does he do us leaving for free and everybody knows it, he won’t have his heart in it - we’ll pay him 25M anyway. Are you simply unlucky when you think? “Barcforum this and that” bla bla bla - stop being such a fucking smartass.
