What do you guys think about what TotalBarca has to say about Iniestas performance in this article?
Player in focus: Andrés Iniesta
It kind of sheds some light on how Iniesta can be such an important part of our most successful big game linesups while seemingly having very quiet and unimpressive performances on paper. His movement off the ball has been key, as well as his linkup and understanding with the other players.
Now, I'm obviously not saying that this means he
hasn't declined. I feel like his game yesterday was very poor, he was messing up far too many easy passes, and also made some poor passing decisions into players who were under pressure. I also feel that the writer of this article belittles Xavis importance and how well he has been doing in Luchos system by saying "
Xavi only knows one way to play, and that way is possession". Xavi is more versatile than that, which is precisely what he has shown this season. Being the undisputed champion of orchestrating tempo doesn't mean all you can do is possession, far from it.
